not to mention that it's illegal to use one on 11 meters, so now we know
who wants to use an ic-7000 illegally!
lol

I had two or three email contacts with the gentleman and he is aware that
is is illegal. I think he was wanting to know if he could "listen" not
"transmit" as there is "limited" Ham traffic in his area.

In my opinion it's similar to my using a 2 meter transceiver to listen to
local repeater and simplex traffic even though I don't have a ticket yet.
When I was a Boy Scout in Michigan, we had a short wave receiver that
allowed us to listen to Amateur radio transmissions.

why would it be illegal? if the user drops the power to 4 watts it would be like ever other cb out there... just a very expensive one... however it would offer the option to do usb and lsb which is very cool and not seen to much these days. i am guessing that Morse and rtty would not go well and cause great confusion

I know, right...

Nobody gives a damn if you use this radio on the 11-meter band except for a few anal-retentive people who only know how to respond with, That's illegal". In their minds it's all well and fine to run 100-watts in the 10-meter band but if you drop down all of ONE MHz then you'll "interfere" with other radio users, yet magically THEY don't interfere when using the 10-meter band? Funny how that works, isn't it???

We all know the legalities of doing this but only a Duddly-do-Right would be so self-righteous as to tell people they can't use this radio on 27 MHz. Oh but it's just fine to run FULL-POWER barely 1 MHz up from that because someone "says so"? Hey, whatever you gotta tell yourself... lol.

The clowns who are so quick to tell you that you can't use this radio on 11-meters are the same ones defending ham radio operators on the 75-meter band who have such poor operating habits you don't dare let your children listen in. Oh but you better not use this radio on 11-meters 'cuz that's illegal.

Yeah, whatever....

Much clipped

Your language is somewhat offensive... However when I warn someone that
what they purpose is either 1: Illegal or 2: Dangerous or better yet 3: Both

I'm more concerned for their safety and well being than enforcing the
law... I mean,, I can not afford the kind of fines the FCC slaps on
folks who they catch running power or ham gear in the 11 meter band...

And I thus assume you can not either.

Of course, I could be wrong, perhaps the Prize Patrol just pulled into
your driveway.

You know if you would've left out your pointless intolerant dildowaving in
that first sentence you probably would've had a lot more people paying
attention to the valid advice you gave at the end.

It's a funny thing.. Regulations, and the laws that back them up
are there so that every one gets a reasonable right to use things
to their own, and everyone else's benefit.

Most of us agree to follow those regulations, because we see the
benefit in them, to society as a whole.

Some folks are just selfish enough to think that their use trumps
everyone else's enjoyment of a thing.

It's for that reason, that our reguations are enforced, and the
regulators have the power to leavy fines and further restrictions
on your use, if you abuse the priviledges you have.

If fines alone arn't enough to convince you that you should abide
by the rules.. then they start revoking your privelidge to use
the other sectors of things controlled by the government.. like
Federally issued licenses to use radio frequencies.. and fly planes
and do other things... And if you still prove to be a "slow leaner"
they throw you in jail, where you can no longer practice your
selfish ways.

So.. I hope you go ahead and do as you wish with the 11 meter
band.. and I do hope that you get caught.. and that they issue
fines which have you and your family eating beanie weanies for a
long time to come.. And that you find that life as a convicted
fellon isn't too unpleasant.

So.. If you feel that the only way you will be fullfilled in life
is to break the rules on the "clown band".. Please be my guest. I'm
sure they can find room for you at some federal supermax prison!

And.. by the time you have transmitted your signal on the clown band
at an illgal power level, what have you really achieved? Not a single
stinking thing.

Hope it's worth it to you.

Sheesh.

Because it has no FCC certification to operate on that band.
