hi, are there any forums or web sites that show how to mod bubble-pack GMRS
units to allow for SMA or BNC connectors instead of the crap dummy load
antenna they come with?

are some units/manufacturers better for this than others?

thanks very much!

(and yes I know it's not FCC approved! LOL)

I'm sure it could be done. Never had one apart
but..................... Just take one apart and do it. A chassis
mount BNC/SMA souldn't be to hard to mount. Use a short piece of coax
to connect the BNC/SMA to the circuit board.

My question runs along the line of "Why?" For just a few $$$$ more you
can buy a Jingtong or Puxing radio on eBay that is a MUCH better radio
to start with. We have two pairs of Jingtong's [ VHF and UHF - 2.4
watt measured output ] that we use a lot. AND they will work GMRS
repeater splits.
