Deep South 2 Meter SSB Net

at 8:30pm CDT. We get together on 144.240 USB and have a great time. There
is an open Swap Meet each evening after the net. Net control is AD5TH in
EM52 near Union,Mississippi.
The Deep South Net is now a week old and already we have 18 ssb ops on the
roster. We have regular check-ins from Mississippi,Alabama,Arkansas, and
Tennessee. Our webpage is www.deepsouthnet.net and has received over 800
visitors since April 6,2005. Join us every night at 8:30pm CDT on 144.240

EM22ts near Jefferson,TX If I recall that beam of yours is a vertically
polarized beam. Practically 100% of the 2M SSB ops use horizontal antennas.
My suggestions?
1. Mount your beam horizontally
2. Tweak it in on 144.240
3. Use max power for that antenna (50w?)
4. Wear headphones
5. Use a GaAsFet pre-amp
6. Listen,listen,listen
7. We have a good station in Vicksburg,MS KJ5RC,Carolyn (EM42) that can
listen for you during the net and relay you in if the band is poor. Try
calling her on 144.200 sometime and see how it goes. If the band is poor she
may be your way to check-in via relay.
