I noticed that "Industrial Engineer" was way up (#9, IIRC). So I _know_
it's not a ranking based on pay, desirability of the job, low stress,
popularity, fun, or even demand. In my mis-spent mid-youth, I worked as
one for a while in addition to my "real" engineering duties. Did it
that way for two companies, and it _royally sucked_ both places. I
doubt that it's changed all that much in ~15 years. The only job I've
ever been happier to leave was the Navy, and that's just by a thin
margin.
JIm, wondering if this was a "computer-generated random ranking"......
But, hey, I'm not too bright, obviously. I moved from #8 to # 116 about
14 years ago, of my own free will, and am dumb enough to love it. But
I'd probably be making 2 x $$$ if I'd stayed..... and be suffering from
various STD's (part of the perk package), and have had a few
stress-related heart-attacks, and be working twice the hours, with three
times the headaches, and a lot less job satisfaction.
"Hey, our widgets are at least as well-made as the XYZ company's, and
we're making them 3% cheaper! Wow! Party at my house, dudes!"
I think I just got tired of charging over the hill every morning at 7:30
behind a banner that read "For A Better Standard of Living!!"
Jim, figuring he has to try harder, being only 116th......

So, what did you think about the "60 Minutes II" segment on your "line of
work" last night? I have been thinking of playing the market on the web, so
I'm curious.
