Yes, Aria is Japanese. BUT, I own an Aria Pro II RS Knight Warrior (name
is kinda cheesy, but it's strat style with HB,S,S config) and it's a
great guitar. Very playable, and very versatile. Now, I'm not sure about
the Les Paul types, but I imagine they're very comparable. If you can,
play it for a while. Borrow it, whatever. See if you like playing it,
and if you like the sound it gives you. That's the ultimate test.

A friend of mine has a PE series Les Paul copy, and it is better than a
friend's Les Paul studio, neck wise. The sound is a little thinner, maybe.
The Aria has coil taps though, with a wider sonic palette
