If anyone could shed some light on this for me, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,

check out www.gretschbeast.blogspot.com for information on these
guitars
Adam,
The 5000 is widely viewed as the cream of the crop in the Beast line.
I have 3 of the BST, you can check them out at www.gretschbeast.blogspot.com
If you are looking for more specific info, just let me know and I'll
try to help. The BST's have developed quite a following, they are
highly under-rated in my opinion. I have played guitars costing
thousands more, but the BST's beat most hands down.
That double cutaway Beast with the pickgaurds looks amazing. Way cooler
than the one I purchased. However, it didn't the model # next to the
pictures. Which model did I win in the auction? The 8250 or 8650? I'm
assuming the double-cutaway would be the other model. Is there a big
difference in quality between the two different BST-5000 models, or do
they both have the same feel. The most important think for me in a
guitar is the neck, the sound, then the body.. although the last two are
close.
Thanks,
-Adam
My bad, that double cutaway is a Gretsch Committee. This confuses me
even further, regarding the two different model names for the BST-5000.
Do you prefer one to the other? I noticed that the Committee has a
Fender style bridge, while the BST-5000 has the tune-o-matic setup. I'm
beginning to think that the 8650 is a misprint/typo, as the Committee
model number starts with a 7.
I got the guitar in the mail about a week ago. It came freshly setup
with a set of 9s, which is my gauge of choice. However, this guitar
seems like it would benefit with heavier wound strings; I'm gonna buy a
pack of 10s, and re-string the E,A and D to see if that helps at all. I
also noticed that the action is really low. I was wondering how you set
up your BST 5000. I figure you might have some tips, seeing that you own
all the different Beast models.
Thanks,
-Adam
