Taking the kids to their first concert

their first concert. The concert is by Australia's biggest
export....The Wiggles!! It's Sunday at 1:30 which is perfect for the
kids (age 5 and 3). I hope they play Eagle Rock!! Love that song.
Anyone got any "taking kids to their first concert" stories? Or
perhaps stories of you being taken to your first concert?

Took my older daughter a few years ago to the Wiggles in Madison Square
Garden... LOL Both kids always love when I start playing "Big red
car" or "rock-a bye your bear"... and it's really a kick to play simple
3 chord songs (A - D & E) and see them singing and doing all the moves
in front of you...and that's as good as Christmas Day to me... :)

The Wiggles really do have some good songs. Very good songwriting
team. I'm looking forward to it as much as the kids. No shots of
liquor in the parking lot before going in, though.

Just check the archives of Forest Hills Tennis Stadium and that's who it
was. Do you think there's a Wiki on this stadium? Beat me to the punch. I

They were a great influence on my kids, when they were younger. I think
as musicians they are VERY underrated. Probably because of what they do.
For years I'd go to work with Wiggles songs in my head, some good, some bad.
Watch the Wiggles movie, its a bit of a trip. I'd imagine after a toke
it would be quite surreal. ;-)
Being a country boy, my first concert was the NZSO. Bloody good too. My
first real rock concert was Roger Waters less than 10 years ago. There
was a definite odour in the air that night, pretty cool for the
naughties I thought. Funny thing, I was playing on stage before I'd seen
any real rock concerts. Most small towns had their local bands that I
would go and see at the pub, in the area. That was my introduction.

My story doesn't involve a concert, but my first born was conceived under
the gaze of Hannibal Lecter at the (long since gone) Starlight Drive-In in
Canberra. Those beginnings could explain a thing or two...

Well when my girls were little I took them to see Rick Charette a few
times. Got to meet him once and he's a pretty funny dude. I used to do
a couple songs of his for them at home, especially when they would be
acting up and making a helluva ruckus. As soon as I hit the first
chords for Alligator in the Elevator they'd immediately stop what they
were doing and come dance to it.
Now as far as my first concert? I think (not sure here) it was Black
Sabbath in 1982 at the Boston Garden. Some band named Wrabit opened
for them and I remember thinking they sucked. Sabbath kicked severe
ass though. Quick funny story here.. I used to see Aerosmith fairly
regularly because for a few years in a row back in the 80's they'd
play in my town once or twice a year and actually got to party with
them at a Ramada Inn once. Had to leave fairly quick because Tyler was
trying to get in my sisters pants..she was 14 at the time. Joey Kramer
was probably one of the nicest and down to earth rock star dudes I've
ever met to this day.

Next spring, we're taking our girls to see Joe Bonamassa with us.
Granted, the older one will be 17 and the younger one almost 16, but
it's still the first time they get to see one of our shows...
My first concert was *going* to be Led Zeppelin at the Montreal Forum
during the In Through The Out Door tour. We lined up outside the
night before (at a time when you could still do that) with my HS buds,
only to have some guy walk past us next morning and tell us, "Hey, did
you guys hear? John Bonham died choking on his own vomit."
And so...my firs concert ended up being a forgettable April Wine show.

I had a similar experience, although it wasn't my first concert. I
was going to go see them in Chicago. We had just ordered tickets and
I think it was hours later we heard Bonham had died. So I never go to
see Led Zeppelin after all. I did later get to see Jimmy Page as part
of The Firm, which was pretty good, but of course it wasn't quite the
same.

The Wiggles used to be known as the Cockroaches here in Oz and didnt do very
well as such..until they dreamt up their new identity..now theyre bigger
than texas lol..

You didn't miss much. I saw Zep right after the third album came out. I
think it was too long of a drive from the airport to the stage. They
didn't play complete songs...you couldn't figure out what the hell was
going on. They were probably the worst live band I've ever heard.
I realize that it's tough to make up for a bunch of overdubbed guitars
on your album and one guy on stage, but at least try to make the songs
sound recognizable.

The Wiggles show was yesterday. The kids had a great time. I was a
little disappointed that most of the music was pre-recorded, though I
understand why it's much easier to produce a show like that. They had
a full band on the concert DVD they put out previously. Murray played
guitar for many of the songs and did a few leads. I will just assume
the vocals were live. It was a little weird to step out of a concert
arena into sunlight. Lots of hot moms there, too!

I can't recall ever seeing a "Classic" Zeppelin live video where I
said man they were a great live band. Every one I've seen is filled
with Plant dropping out of key and Page butchering his own songs. Some
of the more recent Reunion type of stuff I've seen is pretty good
though. Same with Sabbath, though there are a couple classic live vids
of them where Ozzy doesn't severely drop out of key or forget/mix up
the lyrics but not many..lol.
I absolutely hate it when I go to see a band live and they completely
butcher their own songs whether it's execution or completely changing
it just cos they are bored with it. I can't count how many times I've
played songs like Man in The Box and Livin After Midnight live in
front of people but I play it right because I feel like that's what
people want to hear.

Oct. 22 I took my 6 year old and 10 year old to KISS. It was their
first concert. KISS was my first concert back in 78.
My son (6) knew all the songs but "I Love it Loud".
