"punk ain't in the patches"
At least they played guitar that was more than a dissonant mess, AND had
cool hair. Furthermore, Poison wasn't a band recruited by an aircraft
mogul because they looked good and could sing. They were picked up by
their record company because they could draw fans to their shows. Back
in those ancient days of the 80's, you actually had to (gasp) be able to
play (and write music in general) to draw a crowd. Now, all you have to
do is market the noise correctly. Tell all the alienated fourteen year
olds that the recording of the garbage can being crushed by a truck
expresses their hatred towards society, and voila! There's a platinum
record right there.
As an additional, the record companies did not come up with the hair
band look. Watch "Behind The Music," and you will see that Motley Crue
and Poison came up with big shows and big hair on their own. How much
of their show and look do you think N' Sync dreamed up?

You know, I was going to say something here, like "Oh yeah.
'Dimebag' (neé 'Diamond') Darrel is every bit as musical as Django
Reinhardt. Mmm hmm. Riiiiiight."
But then I decided not to.

Well, I wouldn't put words in the man's mouth. He merely stated that Pantera
are as serious about playing music as Mr. Reinhardt. Never did he say that Dime
was as musical as a jazz great such as he.

Alex

Is there something wrong with liking Yngwie Malmsteen? When he's not going
completely crazy on the fretboard he plays tons of great melodies and some
really beautiful clean passages. I don't see what your point is.

Sorry, dude, but these threads are the most moronic things ever conceived.
Actually, I am a Pantera fan and I still won't respond by saying that CC
Deville sucks, because this particular one seems to be a troll. I just
decided to troll for some puffed out Pantera fan to snap something back and
you answered. Or are you a Poison fan?
>Is there something wrong with liking Yngwie Malmsteen?
Besides the fact that he can't write a good song to save his life? No.

What you are hearing is the ringing in your ears which is called tinnitus.
This affliction is known to be caused by listening to lame, washed up 80's
posers who think they're God. You're probably hearing the blank spaces
between tracks on your CD.
I don't see what your point is.

Yngwie blows! That wasn't hard to understand, was it?

Actually, I like Yngwie a lot. Saw his last concert on his US
tour, and it rocked. I've been a fan of his for a good 10 years. I'm
just saying that between Darrell and C.C., whom both, while can play,
haven't improved much beyond the scope of their playing. in 10 - 13
years, their music still sounds the same. Yngwie has improved a lot, in
attitude, playing, and in technality, and I'm not seeing that in either
CC or Darrell.. so like I said. I'm wondering if those posting to the
thread would prefer Yngwie over both of them.. not that that's a bad
thing at all.

Apparently, you haven't heard any of his new material, let alone
the fact that he's the reason why he sent all the Kirk Hammets and Scott
Ians and Danny Spitzs all running back to their lesson books, for chops
building. Too bad you listen to all the mixed up hype about him.

Then why don't you listen to some of his music, from the *90's*,
or even his new CD, made in *2000* ? He's more than the washed up crap
from the 80s, that aren't around anymore. He's still playing.
> Yngwie blows! That wasn't hard to understand, was it?
I'll let sales figures of his albums, and concert venue sellouts
speak for themselves.. I bet anything, that if he came to your town,
you'd go to see the show.
Ryan
Mike Murphy, understand this: I think you blow for trying to tell me whats cool
and what isn't. I like lots of 80's music and there isn't a damn thing wrong
with that. Unlike you, I don't sell my cd's when they are out of style, and
listen to whats popular so people will think I'm a cool guy. And I'm not about
to do it now to appease you. Why don't you just enjoy the music you listen to
and let me enjoy mine without making fun of it? I'm willing to bet that I don't
like the music you listen to either, but Im not going to talk shit about it.
Ryan
Ah, the eighties- Men At Work, Rick Astley, Stryper, Poison, Ratt, Motley
Crue, Cindy Lauper, Yngwie Malmsteen. Music at its finest.
Unlike you, I don't sell my cd's when they are out of style, and

You know, back when I went through a brief bible-beater phase, I broke all
of my LPs- what a waste! Please do not break/sell/give away your CDs-
especially not to appease me or the gods.
Why don't you just enjoy the music you listen to
>and let me enjoy mine without making fun of it?
I do. I could give a rat's ass what other people think about it. I suggest
that you adopt a similar attitude- music ain't competition. No one's
opinion is any more valid than anyone else's.
I'm willing to bet that I don't
>like the music you listen to either, but Im not going to talk shit about
it.
I don't care if you do, Ryan. That's why these threads suck so mightily-
who gives a fuck if I think that CC Deville sucks big huge cocks and that
Dimebag Darrell fucks Phil Anselmo up the ass to get that distinctive
Pantera grunt going. If that changes your mind about your music, you need
to get a life.
I'm sorry if I offended you, but I find these threads offensive- this one is
obviously a troll, and I was being facetious. How the hell could you
compare DD to CC?
Hey, I enjoy fretboard frenzies...

Dimebag is much cooler, man. I mean he wears baggy pants and has long hair
dude. Like - he says "fuck" in interviews too.
That Django dude man - I mean, like who does he play with ? I'm sure if was
that good man, he'd have a gig with Pantera, or Slayer or Korn man. Maybe
even Limp Bizkit or BLink 182 if he was REALLY good man. Buit you just don't
see him - do you ?
