(BTW, I first started playing with SnapSeed on my iPad but the screen is just too small. I'd rather work on my laptop with the 28" external monitor. I'm not used to having no right-click or File menu.)

I don't have a desktop computer and my entry level laptop (which I bought months ago just for word processing and light browsing) takes a second or two just to adjust exposure with GIMP. I suspect it would be the same with Lightroom, and in any event I don't want to pay for that. Snapseed does everything I need for now.
I have a program PSP X4 for regular editing, but I often turn to this for quick editing. I reckon it's a bargain, I love using it on my desktop. I've had it for about 2 months and paid $19.95 for it - money well spent. It's good if you have a second laptop (I have an ACER Aspire One Happy, 10" with 2 GB RAM) that I take when on holidays, because it's light and easy - I can edit pics and it keeps me occupied on the plane because the smaller netbook can't take such a big program as PSP X4. I love using photo apps for desktop, I also have Camerabag. I'm a Samsung camphone junkie too. I'm no professional, I just love to play - I say bring on more apps for desktop, I'll shell out 20 bucks for anything new and different
I agree with you JacquesBalthazar, it seems that the 'real' world just isn't good enough anymore. Although I use snapseed a lot (together with a few other apps) on my iPad, my photography is just fun and I don't take it seriously. I mean, I mainly use my iPhone.
No, I didn't miss the point. You're saying you can't transfer work with photos you modified with Snapseed to your laptop Lightroom library. Since that's not an Apple Product, you should reach out to them.
I want to get raw files (.nef from my Nikon and .rw2 from my Panasonic) into the Snapseed app in my S9+ phone for processing and editing, without having to use a laptop. . I assume I can buy an OTG cable/ adapter, plug one end into the camera or SD card reader, and the other end into the phone, hit the Import button on the notifications pane, and then choose which photos to import . If so, where do they go on the phone? And does Snapseed automatically find them and convert them to .dng files, or do I need to use an app such as raw2dng before editing them in Snapseed? Or am I out in left field altogether?
Yes, After a lot of experimenting I have found that I can't do it directly with raw files. But I can convert the raw files to jpegs in camera, in both my systems (Nikon and Panasonic) and then import them directly into Snapseed, and then wait to get better final results if I need them later when I have my laptop available, using Raw -> Fast Raw Viewer -> Lightroom. And I hate fishing!
I always shoot in raw. Usually I transfer the raw files to my laptop using an SD card reader, then process them in Lightroom and sometimes Topaz AI Clear. What i was hoping for is a way of getting the raw files onto my phone for subsequent processing. Raw2dng works fine the other way - if I take a raw photo on my phone I can use it to convert to DNG for processing in Snapeed or transferring to my laptop. But I take a lot of bird pictures with my Nikon gear, and the phone's camera won't do for that.
I can inform that Snapseed can open Nikon J1 Nef files and Nikon D600 Nef files and do raw editing.. Dont know why these files work as my newer Nikon cameras and other cameras do not. But, snapseed is useless for color as the color Noise is horrible, it works if youre aiming to do a BW conversion though. If you are going to do color conversion files should be edited in a dedicated raw developer like Lightroom Mobile or on a desktop programs like Capture NXD, ACR or any of the other desktop alternatives.
