They've sold the location to Guitar Center. Music Loft will close end
of business on Saturday, 26 Jan 2002. Guitar Center will open (IIRC)
Jan 30 in that location.

They're discounting all of the inventory that Guitar Center did not
purchase along with the business.

They had lower prices than I've seen lately on a bunch of Fender,
Gibson ... guitars, as well as discounting amps. I saw a 65 Super
Reverb re-issue STICKER PRICE at $989 (or was it $898????). Lots of
Line 6 if that's the way you're bent.

There were a lot of people in there, and most of them seemed to be
seriously buying.

Mike Sandler ... I hope you're paying attention. You might want to
take a look at their selection of keyboards. You might find one that
suits your desires at a better price.

If anyone is in the Raleigh-Durham area of NC, or the surrounding
areas, it might be worth a drive over to see what they've got left.

There was also an earlier thread about Johnson guitars. I played a
low price Johnson acoustic while I was there a half hour or so ago.
The Music Loft is selling them at $88. I'd say the Johnson was an
adequate beginner's acoustic, particularly at that price. They also
had a comparable guitar whose name started with L (NOT Larivee) that
they were selling for $82.

Either of these would be worth the money if anyone is looking for an
absolute rock bottom cost beginner's instrument.

Anyway, I thought I'd offer a heads up here, in case anyone can
benefit from the deals.

You can also call the Music Loft at (919) 872-0331

Side note: This was more confirmation, as if I needed any, on just
how much being un-employed and broke REALLY SUX!!!!!

When the computer/telecommunications industry crashed and burned last
year, the local area went from the lowest unemployment rate in NC
(1.6%) to the highest (6.1%) in less than 6 months.

I would have recommended either The Music Loft or Harry's Guitars for
work on guitars. There were a couple of others, but AFAIK they're out
of business.

Now it looks like Harry's Guitars is the only one.

OTOH, the person who was at one of the others I would have
recommended, and was the reason I would have recommended them, is
working for Harry now.

Yeah, I was in. They don't have the one I want, though. They do have a Korg
Karma, but that's too expensive.

They want to move stuff. They'll almost literally fall over themselves to
get rid of inventory. They won't sell you the banners with the brand names,
though. Or the Fender barstools.

Wow. I didn't know that.

Would that be a man who is named after one of the Gospels who used to work
out of a shop in Cary?

Storm will continue selling electric guitars, amps, basses, and drums.
Eddie Berman, Max Acker, Dave Bartholomew, Barry Knain, and Dave
Smith (Software Dave) work there. We should be open today for regular
retail. We've remained open on the internet -- www.indoorstorm.com.

Thanks, Doug
