Recently thought I'de like to have another PRS and was VERY
disappointed by the company. They do have a custom shop, which to me
would mean making it to "custom specs" where ever those parameters lye
of course. All I wanted was to have a "normal" neck heel, NOT that
hideous heel from hell junk. I cannot believe a guitar that expensive
would feel that crappy.....and YES I realize alot of you have adjusted
to it, but I doubt ANYONE wuld actually prefer it if given a choice.
Also, the argument of structural integrity being better is crap as
well.....anyone seen a rash of failures over the years? The 24
fretters have a little less of it, and the 513 was "OK" But we're
talking major bucks for something they basically ruined. Anyway, I
spoke with seceral people there and not one would offer not only a
reason for rejcting my request ( price would not be an issue ) but why
they changed it in the first place.....still super gorgeous guitars,
but that neck is.....well I''de never coin up for one......All that
said I think they do a fine job on the single cut models, they feel
really nice, except that I do not want a SC. So I guess I'm looking
for a 95 or older, or sending a new one to Ed Roman for heel removal
lol NOT!

I can't believe the prices they are asking for the new ones. I bought my
Custom 22 back in 2000 for $2k.

I've never played one w/o the heel from hell so I don't know the difference.
Ignorance is bliss. :)

Finding someone to part with a pre-heel would probably be hard to find for a
reasonable price.

I have a PRS CE-24 from 1993, with the small heel. I don't play it, or
even like it much... but it sounds like I should let it continue to sit
in the closet and mature in value until I'm more desperate for the
cash.

A buddy of mine had a 1985 or 86 PRS he bought from the orig owner
about 1989. He sold it a couple years back for something like 8
grand......

I played an older CE and liked it fine. One funny thing is I bought
the first year Music man EVH in trans red at the Winter Namm when they
were introduced. This thing still has the plastic on it, has been
played like 3-4 times, and I've been offered some PRS's even up, but I
bought it to hopefully appreciate to some ridiculous level at some
point.....and I don't personally like it at all.

I paid $1300 for one in '88 and sold it a couple of years later for
same. Wish I had what it it's worth in today's market in my pocket
right now. I could buy a decent motorcycle or something for that much
scratch.
