I believe he used simply a Fender Twin Reverb. No effects or anything,
he just plugged straight into the amp. His Strats were also stock. He
might have upgraded his equipment late in his life, but I didn't really
follow him after about 1984.
Fender twin for recording and ac30 for live.
full treble on the fender same on the vox , volume about half.
I read that someplace, it should sound rory with a strat.
Agressive fingers are needed, in any case.

I seem to recall also seeing him pictured with a Tele and an SG.

I know he also played a 1960 gibson melody maker at times. Exactly the
same as the one I have. http://web.wt.net/~nm5k/mm60.jpg MK

Sometimes, yes, but he probably used ano original '50s Fender Bassman
more often on the road. (The only effects pedal he used in his '70s
heyday, by the way, was a Rangemaster treble booster.)

He used a 3 amp set up, Vox AC-30, Fender Tweed Bassman or Twin, and a
50 watt Marshall combo.
