What does SRS refer to, or where is it marked on the guitar? I can
only remember seeing the initials used with reference to Squier and
perhaps Affinity products. A wild guess: "Special Run Series"

Call Fender's Consumer Relations Department. They should know.

I was looking at a local CL ad for an SRS Strat, it was American
series SRS. I've seen it on a few ads online too. I think you're
probaby correct about Special Run Series...I knew it had to be
something obvious that i was missing...and you nailed it.

Fender guitars labeled FSR, indicate "Fender Special Run." These
guitars are part of a usually limited run (often for a large dealer
like Musicians Friend or Guitar Center) which have changed minor
"details" or "specs" from standard production. Since I read the O.P.
I have looked around a bit and have found various Fender replacement
parts also labeled SRS. I'm really not sure what SRS indicates. If
someone wandering through this newsgroup knows what SRS stands for,
maybe they'll enlighten the rest of us.

I suspect that Squier will know, hopefully he'll be around and chime
in.

There is no 'SRS'. There is 'FSR' which stands for Fender Special Run
but using 'Srs' or SRS is just a shorthand seller's way of saying 'Series'.
So if you see 'Fender Am. Srs' it just means Fender American Series guitar.
In this case the SRS or Srs is just online or sellers shorthand.

Thanks. I told LULU you would know, and I think you are 100% correct.
The thing was, I found a bunch of references to it online, with "SRS"
all in caps, that's what kind of threw me off. When they do it like
"Srs" it's obviously an abbreviation for Series...all caps and it's
not so obvious.

What does SRS stand for? It seems that there are many meanings
connected with this acronym. The "modern world" revolves around such
vague and subjective brevity.

Enjoy,

<g> I still like the Greco LP knockoff best, though I don't doubt I
would put uncovered pickups in it.

Two recent successes I've had are a nice simple jig for leveling the
bottoms of saddle slots for UST installation, and series wiring a
piezo/preamp (Maton AP5) with a magnetic pickup. No loss of tone and
either works independently of the other - even with the preamp battery
pulled! I'm thinking of trying the same principle on an electric guitar,
with a spare piezo preamp I have on hand.

Oops, wrong thread, not sure how that happened. Supposed to be Jeff's
"I'm back".

Fender "SRS"??

Stands for the "Stevie Ray Steinmetz" model: Stevie Ray being a
little-known blues/rock artist known to hang around Austin Texas
pretending to be a working musician.

The guitars weren't big sellers as I understand it...

Thanks Tony!

You’re certainly a tinkerer. I must pop up to your place one day when I'm a
bit less of a hermit.
