Live in Texas is the first live album and third DVD by American rock band Linkin Park, originally released on November 18, 2003. The band's main setlist includes songs from their studio albums Hybrid Theory and Meteora, as well as one song from their remix album Reanimation. The live album peaked at #23 on the Billboard 200, and it has sold 1.1 million copies in the United States.[1] The audio version of the concert includes 12 out of the 17 tracks. At the end of "A Place for My Head", lead singer Chester Bennington breaks guitarist Brad Delson's guitar. At the end of the concert, DJ Joe Hahn threw a piece of his equipment on the stage floor.

The DVD comes with a bonus CD that features twelve of the songs from the DVD. The other five live tracks can be found on the LP Underground 3.0 CD. The audio on the CD is mixed differently from the audio on the DVD. The DVD/CD comes in two versions: a CD case and, although harder to find, a DVD case. Live in Texas was awarded Gold certification in 2003 by the RIAA, only 29 days after the release of album, and Platinum certification in 2007.

I'd like to discuss LP's live albums. I'm not going to discuss other live recordings such as LPU tracks, bonus tracks from deluxe albums, or things like the Collision Course DVD, since it was more of a bonus to an EP. I'll be focusing solely on the three live albums Linkin Park has put out.

My personal favorite is Live In Texas, for a couple of reasons. First of all, I firmly believe the mixing and instrument quality is better here than any other live album, which is pretty funny considering how it's also the oldest one. I especially think the guitar sounds really nice here. Second of all, while not the best out of the three in my opinion, the vocals are great and in some cases are superior to the others. Chester sounds much grittier than in the others, and his screams are nearly perfect. Also, I love having the Pushing Me Away remix on this album - I may actually prefer this version of it to the Reanimation version. My only big gripe is that the CD doesn't contain all of the tracks like in Road To Revolution. It's honestly a great live album in my opinion, and is actually my very first Linkin Park album (my dad bought it before I was even born - he wasn't an LP fan but did want it for the song In The End).

Road To Revolution is also really good. I think the worst aspect of it is definitely the sound quality, though. It honestly sounds pretty muddy in comparison to the others - it has a lot of bass and the guitars sound really drone-y and a bit difficult to hear. Also the actual microphone quality isn't quite as nice as in the others in my opinion... it's kind of hard to describe why, but if you listen to the recording you may be able to understand what I'm getting at. With that being said, it has a lot going for it as well. It includes my favorite rendition of Chester's voice out of any live album - the screaming doesn't sound quite as good, but the clean vocals sound so amazing that I honestly don't care. It's an angelic sound. Also, having Jay-Z near the end is really cool, even if it is a little weird hearing only half of Numb/Encore. And since it is newer than Live In Texas, the video quality, naturally, looks a lot better. I just wish they had released a CD/Blu-Ray digipak like with Slipknot's Day Of The Gusano, since the only options we have (as far as I know) is a CD/DVD digipak and a single Blu-Ray release. It would've been a lot more convenient if they offered the Blu-Ray with the CD, but since they don't, it's better to get the former if you can only get one since you'll also get the audio. Not my favorite live album, but still absolutely fantastic, and Chester sounds totally angelic here.

I'll be honest: even though I like One More Light Live a lot, it's still my least favorite. I wish they had played more songs from albums other than their first three and One More Light. And what's a little maddening is that if you look up performances of the One More Light Tour on YouTube, you can probably find some that contain songs from A Thousand Suns, The Hunting Party, and songs from Living Things that aren't Burn It Down. If someone knows why they limited the track listing for reasons other than CD space (though this isn't an issue if you just utilize a double CD format like many other live albums... ugh), I'd like to know, because we're missing a lot of songs! I've seen some of the performances of these songs not featured on One More Light Live and honestly, they were pretty great! Not only did we actually get some songs from the underrated The Hunting Party, but we also got songs like One Step Closer and Castle Of Glass (iirc on the last one). In my opinion, this album would've been a lot better if these tracks were included. In terms of instrument quality, this album is pretty decent - it definitely sounds a lot more laid back than the other two, but I prefer it to the muddiness of Road To Revolution. I do wish it was just a little bit more, but it's still alright. If I'm being frank, though, Chester's vocals sound weaker here than any other album. I'd say they're the worst in songs like Burn It Down, Leave Out All The Rest, and What I've Done, particularly in the chorus sections of these songs. You can tell he's really worn out, but I wouldn't call the vocals bad, per se - they're still okay, just not up to par with the others. The vocals did surprise me at how different they sounded when I first heard them, but they have grown on me and I do hold much more fondest for the album today. Also, quick side note on this album, but does anyone find it interesting how Mike uses a different second verse for Good Goodbye compared to the studio version? According to Linkinpedia, as I assumed, Mike is using a demo verse in place of Pusha T's lyrics, and in my opinion this is actually an improvement! Also, the version of Crawling included on this album is really great and I'm really happy it's on here. Overall, I like OML Live a lot, even if it is my least favorite out of Linkin Park's live albums. I do wish there was a DVD, though... but according to Linkinpedia, this album was recorded at many different shows (and multiple tracks were edited in some way), so I suppose it'd be a little difficult to make a DVD for that (but then again, I'm sure bands have done it before).

Live in Texas is Linkin Park's first live album. A CD / DVD combo was released on November 18, 2003 and features songs performed from Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora.

In summer 2003 after the successful release of the Meteora album, Linkin Park toured North America on Metallica's Summer Sanitarium Tour. The band played before Metallica and Limp Bizkit and after Deftones and Mudvayne. The band felt that the stadium run was a monumental tour in their history and they wanted to capture it by filming a live DVD, which became Live in Texas.

Rob Bourdon in an email to the LP Underground on October 23, 2003 said, "What's up LPU... Just wanted to tell you a little bit about the new "Live in Texas" CD/DVD we're putting out November 18th in the US and November 17th Internationally. We filmed this during our Summer Sanitarium shows in August in Texas and we feel it gives everyone a chance to relive the live Summer Sanitarium show. We know that some LP fans never got the chance to attend this tour so this gives everyone a chance to experience our performance. Touring with Metallica was such an amazing experience and we want to share it with all of you. We look forward to releasing this album and hope you all enjoy it."
