For what its worth, I have a class a point to point amp that does toss
out a little noise and hum.
So I thought a HSS strat might be fun.
I guess they produced so many 50th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster
that its impossible to tell how it got Lace sensor or even the exact
year?
Could this be a hotrod or lonestar? The guy is not a guitar expert so
until he gets off work I cant get the serial number or anymore info.
I never heard of a 50th anniversary model with a humbucker or lace
pickups
I thought to be a lonestar with upgraded pickups?
If I do a trade is it normal to take the neck off to inspect the
sereal numbers to make sure its not a mex?
Id be trading a $650 hammer action stage piano.
Fender American Lonestar Fat Strat Stratocaster 50th, Assuming he got
Lace pups traded out at some point.
I dont get a photo till tonight.

> Wonder why the serial number was blacked out on the photo?
I was going to say the same thing.
They had Custom shop single coils. I believe they are a special edition
pickup that was on the Fenderforum a very sought after pickup.
And yes you are right there was NO humbuckers in any of the 50th anniversary
issue strats.
>
OKay this is NOT A 50th ANNIVERSARY STRAT. NOT BY FENDER AT LEAST.
This guy has a guitar he has highly modified. Also what colour is his
guitar. The 50 anniversary strats only came in one colour. Sunburst.
rct
There is no 50th Anniv. MIA Strat with HSS Lace Sensor pickups.
In fact any Lace Sensors that came with MIA Strats (in the 80's)
will have "Fender Lace" on the pickup covers. If the covers just
say Lace Sensor then they were never a part of a MIA Strat. (pulled
from an 80's MIA Strat).
This is probably (umm... nearly definitely) either a MIA parts-o-caster
or some highly modified strat that started out as regular MIA Strat.
It may have had the 50th Anniv decal on it but it ain't no original anymore.
Fender actually has many 'anniversary' models. Some celebrate the
founding of the Fender company and start from that year. Other anniversary
models start with the year that particular model came out and then add
on 25 or 50 years or whatever. So there are 2 50th Anniv. model years.
One was for the 50th year from the founding of the Fender company and
the other was for the 50th year of the Stratocaster.
Hmmm.. they also did '40th' year anniversary models of MIA Strats too.
These are somewhat collectible but not quite there yet.
The actual collector ones are the 25th anniversary models.
Anyways - what he has is a chop shop Strat that might very well
be an excellent player. All that really matters (unless it is a bonafide
collectible Strat) is how it plays and feels to you. Some of the best
playing Strats are actually 'parts-o-casters' which were built using
good parts especially the body and neck (or good hardware regardless of
where made) and setup well and have good pickups/wiring in them.
Many times these can be the equal or better than regular retail MIA Strats.
Either way he said he has 15 telecasters and only this strat and said
no matter what he could not get used to it. (As a country twanger)
I also have a great MIJ strat that I fixed up but Im looking to buy
this guys strat and sell (Trade for my stage piano that did not sell)
and far to big at 70 pounds to ebay.
Or pick over the parts or trade after I have my way with it.
Thanks again.

ok, ask him HOW the body got wrecked.
Sorry, but I smell bullshit. I wouldn't buy the thing until I had the
chance to really wring it out. Even if it did turn out to be a decent
player it is still just a partscaster.
It could also be a fake Chinese copycaster.
Come to think of it, Im asking for a receipt and pop off the neck to
look at the lettering.
Her is a link to a 50th aniversary Strat . It is complete so you
shoul get more than a few links to other 50th aniversary Strats that
way you can check out a bunch and see what is similar and compare them

I'd offer the value of the neck if you believe it's genuine. The body
could come from anywhere but it's easier to tell a genuine neck as
opposed to a fake one.

For what its worth, I have a strat with single coils so a humbucker
style sounds fun!
The pups, the neck, obviously high quality.
For newcomers to my topic, the seller wants a keyboard valued at $500
(That I have not used in 6 months)
I have 5 keyboards! So its an attractive trade.
Deluxe tweed case!
He said he swaped out the body with a new fender USA body.
I would take the body off and look at the sereal number.
He said the guitar is from the 1980's but the body is new.
I figure even mighty mite body would still make this a great player?
Please see photos as I received them (Dang cell phones)
Blurry, but at least you can see the MIA label ... the neck looks to me to
be a 90s American Standard. Just my guess.

Those double Lace pickups aren't exactly like a humbucker.

You mentioned a Fender Rhodes Stage, if I understood correctly. If you're
not using it, that's an OK deal, I guess. Fender Rhodes stuff is kind of
"buyer specific" by which I mean, it may be worth more than $500, but only
to a select few.

There won't be a serial number on the body, sorry.

Are you going to be able to play it before you buy it? If not, I wouldn't
do it. It may be a great player, but it could be not so great.

It's hard to tell from the angle of the photo but the top E string looks
like it's quite close to the edge of the fretboard due to how the nut
has been cut. It looks like a nice neck (as far as I can see) but make
sure the top E string isn't too far over or make an offer based on the
cost of getting a new nut cut assuming everything else is sound.
Bzzt... wrong answer. I bought a 50th anniversary HSS strat two years
ago new from the shop, although the Lace pickups don't make sense to
me. Mine is an American Stratocaster with Tex Mex pickups. The Deluxe
in that time was supplied with the silent Fender pickups, IIRC. You
can check the pictures here:
It's mine. It's for sale actually since I'm looking for a lighter
guitar as I'm experiencing neck problems since a couple of months and
I don't wanna quit playing, so looking for a (semi) hollow body single
coil guitar like Godin makes them in their Passion series.
Cheers,
Chris
He sent this.
the serial# is N583880 it is a 95 USA
Remember the body is a replacement after he got the guitar he said it
was a "Hack job" the old owner put a bad Floyd rose and wrecked the
body bad and had a new body installed.
I have to drive 50 miles each way to test it.
I'm not sure what Id find under there if I looked at the body (Removed
neck)
He said no receipts from the order and assured its a USA fender body
from factory but it could be some mystery body..
Well, Iv never been duped on crageslist but you never know...
Cheers,
Chris
NO 50TH ANNIVERSARY STRAT HAD HUMBUCKERS IN IT!!!
HERE IS A WRITE UP ON THE 50TH MODEL.

Everything you say seems to make sense to me. $500 is a couple hundred less
than the going rate for '90s American Standards on eBay, but that guitar is
modded, and unless you're gonna disassemble the axe when you see it, you
can't be completely sure it's a Fender body. I'd say, bring an amp you know
(hopefully a small one) and try it out. If you really like it, you are
trading something you don't want or need for something you do want. Sounds
like a potential win-win to me. My American Standard '94 was a really nice
player, by the way.
Disclaimer: I don't collect guitars nor do I look at them as investments ...
the value it has is related to my need or desire for it, so treat my
opinions accordingly.

Been reading with some interest about the Deluxe Series Fenders. I confess
I don't know much about them, not being a huge Fender fan.
I recently opened a small hobby/business music shop and yesterday took a
Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS QMT in trade towards another guitar.
It's a beautiful guitar, but I have no idea what "HSS" and "QMT" means.
It also has a raised, gold "Fender" logo on the headstock and a small gold
circle with a "60" in it on the rear of the headstock.
Any help with explaining what the HSS, QMT and gold circle means would be
appreciated.
TIA,
RCE
HSS = Humbucker/Single Coil/Single Coil, and refers to the type of pickups
installed.
QMT = Quilted Maple Top
This image shows a Strat with HSS and QMT.

The 60 in a gold circle sounds like it's a 60th anniversary of something. I
think the company became Fender Electric Instrument Company in 1946, so the
60 suggests that the guitar is a 2006 model based on that.

Take it easy mate! You refer to a different guitar (i.e. the FENDER
CUSTOM STRATOCASTER 1954 50TH ANNIVERSARY MBUILT), a € 3799,- guitar
here in the Netherlands. Fender did make more 50th anniversary models,
like the American Standard and the American Deluxe, as I referred to.
Both could be delivered with a humbucker in the bridge as an option.
Cheers,
Chris
Thanks. I've often seen the "HSS" referenced to many guitars and knew it
referred to the pickup types, but never really knew what the letters
actually stood for.
Indeed, the Fender American Deluxe Series that I recently acquired was built
in 2006, so the 60 must represent it's an anniversary model.
Nice guitar, BTW.
Thanks again,
RCE
No problems. Does it look like the one in the example picture? If so, then
it's a very nice guitar. If it has a maple fretboard, then almost...
