Oh my goodness or holy shiite!

Just got a pair of Celestion G10 Gold (alnico) speakers.
Wired them up into an oversized 2x10 cab and holy smokes!

They are not even broken in yet and these speakers are absolutely
the best all around 10" guitar speakers I have ever played through.

They have a 'feel' to them that is unreal and they sound perfect
in all the right places. Playing them through a Sovtek Midget Mig50H head
and also playing through my Fender AB763 head (deluxe reverb circuit).
Even those these 2 amps have very different sounds to them the
G10 Gold's let each amp have its own voice and the Strats and Tele
sound great. Nothing harsh - nice tight bottom that begins to
soften up when the amps are cranked up. Just the right amount
of compression -- and no 'nasal' mids - just nice smooth mids
that you can EQ how you like - a little honk or more neutral.
The top end has that signature celestion sound - and cranked up
it has that wonderful broken glass sound - not over the top but
kinda crinkly crispy glass. Back off and you get the shimmer.
Harmonics pop out perfectly when needed. And this 2x10 is way loud
and big sounding without sounding ear piercing or too focusued (as 10's can do).
The G10 Gold sounds great from clean to mean and all points in-between.

Amazingly great speaker. it's worth every penny. really.
I know... "you can't buy tone" but you can get these speakers
and wonder why you dickered around with any other 10" speaker.
All the money spent on other speakers I could have had at least 2 half stacks
of these G10 Golds. Ah well.

The Ragin Cajun (which is also an excellent 10" speaker) just doesn't
hold a candle to the G10 Gold. Not even close. The Ragin Cajun sounds
overly honky with too much upper mids/strident compared to the G10 Gold and
doesn't have the top end of the G10 gold and can get boomy (unlike
the G10 gold). This G10 Gold gives you sound and 'feel' that you
can play all day and your ear never gets tired of it. Sounds great
at low volumes and great at high volumes taking ona wonderfully overdriven
character. These speakers are made in UK (along with the G10 greenback also
made in UK) and I think Celestion hit a homerun with it. Awesome stuff.

ok. just wanted to give my impressions of the speaker and if you
are on the fence about ever getting one - get off the fence and pony up.
You'll thank yourself... and have a great speaker to base all other
10 inch speakers you might ever play.

Considering how much I remember you liking the Rajin Cajuns....you
must seriously like these speakers!

Yes, I really like them. BUT - I am playing them as a 2x10 cab
and I am not sure if as a single speaker it would have the effect
of using a Ragin Cajun in a 1x10 combo or 1x10 cab.

So until I would compare directly a 1x10/single speaker setup
with Ragin Cajun vs G10 Gold - I would stick with the Ragin Cajun (for now)
for those that need maximum impact and volume in a single 10" combo/cab.

So the jury's out on how G10 Gold would sound/feel in a 1x10 application.
But in a 2x10 - I really believe these are the top dog. Nothing comes close
(and I have tried a ton of 10" speakers along the way and the 2x10 G10 Gold
can hang with any 12" speaker/2x12 out there. really.)

I'll have to keep this one in mind. I have an old, early '60s Fender
Tremolux with a 2 x 10 cabinet. The amp itself has been out of
commission for several years, but I'm thinking of reviving it soon.
I've been using the cabinet with a couple of my other amps, and it
sounds pretty good, but I think it could be better. The original Fender
speakers were lost decades ago when I moved (too bad, because I bet
they'd be worth good money now, even if they weren't the best
sounding,) and I eventually replaced them with Mojotones, which are
adequate, but I think could sound better.
