Is it possible to change pickups on a parker fly deluxe? I know the
night fly has a pickguard making it possible. But there is no way
that I could see from the top to change the built-in Dimarzios. I
have read at least two people comment that the pickups were not as
good as some other guitar or model they use.

Was there a way to change them from behind? I don't own one, but I
wouldn't get one if I couldn't change or service the pickups.

I am sure you can change them, I don't own one though. I imagine you
can, since Dimarzio sells direct replacements that are made for the FLy,
out of their regular models. But who the hell wants Dimarzio's
anyway?? When is Duncan gonna make some direct replacements?

Guys,
The fly uses a special pickup that has the second polepiece on the
bottom bobbin and the fifth on the top as a screw into the wood of the
body. They aren't glued in. Dimarzio replacement pickups all follow this
standard.

I'd guess that SD and others haven't bothered to do this because there
aren't enough fly players who want other pickups asking them to. I have
3 flies and find the pickups to be quite fine, in some ways better than
the Dragon and HFS pickups in my PRS. As they say, one man's floor is
another one's ceiling....

Cheers,

I'm not certain, but I think they are glued-in. You could change
them, but it might get a little messy --- If you are willing to
destroy the original pickups entirely, you could section and remove
the coils and the magnet, then you would have a clear shot at the base
plate.

After you butcher out the old pickups, you'll need to remove the
mounting tabs from the new pickups so you can shim and glue them in...
Unless you want to install mounting rings... which will require a
little wood removal.

Boy, I'm glad that Roy Smith posted --- I'd be pretty damn embarassed
if someone hacked a pickup to pieces only to find out that they just
had to take out two screws!!!!!

Thanks Roy!
