Could anyone offer buying advice on this instrument?

never played any since the 70's so I really can't compare, but I'd
suspect it's real nice and probably fairly heavy...the old ones were
quite heavy. Can't really go wrong with Ibanez from a quality point of
view. I have played other models of new Ibanez and they are nice
quality, in fact I have a real nice Made In China Ibanez
acoustic/electric I think AW800CE...real nice.

It's a continued design if at all to compare with prior makes, and not
altogether "outsourced" for namesake.
But, I'd wonder how at $450 more the series/par/tap "TriSound" affects
tonality, say as opposed to a more modest design. . .

I put my own 3PDT mini-toggles in. Series though I don't particularly
care for the tone compared by a tap or conventional parallel, from a
decently regarded PU, series is still nice when going for a closer
match to added bite off the bridge position. Bearing in mind a usual
single-coil guitar modified for mini humbucker arrangements lacking
every possible hi-end made substitute possible.
Closest I otherwise have in a conventional HB array takes some getting
used to for versatility;- Surprising what a base off a single coil may
then yield, be what in as much a manner of familiarity and accustomed
usage. Do have some "grinder tubes" in amp setups which could be
particular in their own right.
Still, I can recall my first fender. At the time I'd eyed repeatedly
as it began exerting a continuous appeal. None of the others I saw
had it until one day an Ibanez showed up. The fretboard precision
particularly fascinated me. ...Close indeed but not just quite.
Don't suppose calling to ask their reputedly knowledgeable staff would
be amiss. . .

My own policy is: Don't buy guitars online.
Every time I did there was something that I didn't like.
Also, it's not a Fender. I'll pick a tele over any "figured" top guitar.
Other than that, it's a nice looking axe and Ibanez does have a good rep.
