What are his best guitar tracks? I'm probably more interested in his
lap steel stuff, but great guitar is great guitar. What do you got?
PLS
Can't go wrong with "Mercury Blues"
-Steve
Yeah .His version of Mercury Blues( El Rayo X ) is the best version of
it that I've ever heard. Actually the whole record is great IMO. You
might want to check out the song Red Neck Friend? I always liked him
and Jackson Browne doing (Stay).
All his stuff is nice listening. I met him once. Sort of a funny
feller but seemed nice enough
El Rayo X and Win This Record.

What about sideman stuff?
Other than Jackson Browne's records featuring David,
I'm not sure what all he did.

He's done a lot of sideman for Ry Cooder. It's
very good, too.

Him and Ry Cooder went to high school together. Santa Monica I think?
If you can hold of the bootlegs of him with Ry and their families at the
Opera House in Vienna 6/7/95 or the show he did with Jackson Browne
(19/5/87 The Catalyst, California). These are superb and has him
(especially with Jackson Browne) blending in when needed and doing some of
his own stuff.
Highly recommended things that are a bit outside of the usual suspect stuff.

I seldom agree with you mr adams, but here I will. El Rayo X is one of my
favorite albums ever. True, theres a lot of early 80s reggae sound on it,
but mostly, its funny, full of Lindleys great lap-steel playing and voice
impersonations and characters. The next one from the same lineup, Win This
Record, wasnt as good but still had some great stuff... another good one
with the same line up was Very Greasy.
The Live El-Rayo-x and Very Very Greasy are also excellent. The latter
has a kick ass version of "Werewolves of London" ...
