This is not a joke. Kurt Cobain, lead guitarist and screamer for
Nirvana, was found dead in his home at about noon today, dead from an
apparently self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. A suicide note and
identification were found nearby (a shotgun does not leave you with much
face to recognize).
He is survived by his wife, Courtney Love, and son.
In a related story, Nirvana album sales went through the roof.
The sad thing is, he will be remembered along with rock stars such
as John Lennon and Jim Morrison as the "voice of our gneration"... and no
one, including himself, took him that seriously.
Besides, you can't make raw, angst-filled ablums when you're rich and
famous.
Beavis and Butthead will deliver a eulogy.

Actually, he could sing pretty well, too. Ever heard, "About A Girl", "Dumb",
"All Apologies", "Sliver", "Been A Son"?

> He is survived by his wife, Courtney Love, and son.

He didn't have a son, he had a daughter named Francis Bean Cobain. Thanks anyway.

Where did you hear that? Or are you making it up.

Actually, Cobain had gone on the record saying he identified with John Lennon a
lot because of their approaches to music, their family lives and youth. The
problem was Cobain took the tag "voice of our generation" TOO seriously and
that's part of what led to his untimely demise. There have been hints of this
coming for a long-time in their lyrics.

What, you think "Milk It" and "Scentless Apprentice" are a walk through the flower
garden???? What are you, stupid? I suppose you think Metallica sucks, too,
because they no longer play clubs? I think his angst only worsened with fame,
judging by the fact that he killed himself.

HAHA! What a fucking comedian you are, Ken. With all the comics out of work in
this country why do we get stuck with you trying to entertain us? (Here we are
now.)

Scotto

BTW, Ken, may everyone you've ever loved be dismembered before your very eyes.
OOOPS! Sorry, I was using the same amount of CONSIDERATION and SENSITIVITY that
you did by posting this article in the first place.
Also, do you have hemorrhoids or are you a *perfect* asshole?

Perhaps people are making a big deal about it because *someone* is dead.
Who cares if Cobain was famous? He was human just like you and I.

Who gives a rat's ass that fucking guy was a herion addict, and manic
depressive... (That's FACT!) He took that stupid way out and for that I have
no remorse for the jerk! I feel bad for his wife and daughter, but that's
about it...

I mean, shit... The song's and the bad SUCKED anyway... So why are people so
upset, I mean the only reason people are sad is because the guy was somewhat
famous... If he was just another herion junkie in Seattle Washington, would
you really give two shits??

Think about it!

<sigh>
Even when the guy's dead, people can't stop ragging on him. Now I never
thought all that highly of his technical ability (or lack thereof), but I did
like quite a few of the songs he wrote. I liked other people's music better,
but Nirvana has (had?) its moments. Sheesh. The guy's dead. Let it rest.
It is a pity though. He took the cowardly and selfish way out. I'd like
to say Rest In Peace, but since he took his own life, that only leaves one
possibility for his afterlife.....and that ain't pleasant. I feel sorry for the
guy and for his family. Oh well, pray for them, folks.

Alexei

PS-I've probably set myself up for some flaming here. But kindly don't. This is
not the kind of event that there should be flaming around, you know? Take care.
God bless.

Stop it all of you. He's dead -- if you like him or not, he's still dead.
Let's move on.

Don't tell me that "just another heroine junkie in Seattle Washington" could have given you just as much pleasure as COBAIN. I can't believe people still think this way. Afterlife? What
afterlife? He's dead. Period.

OK, so some folks don't think Cobain's worth lamenting about,
cos he might've just been any other junkie in Seattle. Fact is,
he may have been into his heroin, but he was UNDOUBTEDLY a bit
different from all other writers and bands around about 3 or 4
years ago.

Whether some people gave up on Nirvana when after they were swallowed
up by MTV is by the by - he was obviously still the same guy after
all the fame, thats why he couldn't handle it.

As for comparisons to Hendrix and Jim Morrisson, I suggest that's
a tad irrelevant - he just might have topped himself for greater
reasons than immortality (shot-gun death is a heavy price to pay
just to increase your fame for a bit).

There's no doubt about it, people all over the world recognised
that Nirvana was VERY different about 3 years ago. There was more
anger than technical virtuosity for sure, but it made everyone
listen.

The only worry I've got is that the career of his banshee-like widow
is probably gonna take off in a big way now, just because of the
Cobain connection. Damn.

Heheh. If this is the only life there is, then "offing ourselves" would be
pretty damned stupid, wouldn't it?
However, if a god (or gods) is the only thing that gives life meaning, then
maybe a shotgun to the ole' cranium is a good idea; a silly belief in a
supernatural dude or dudette doesn't make for much of an existence.

The inquest has not been carried out yet. Perhaps he was
murdered. All they said was they found a note next to him.

Surprise, there are still a few people in the world who believe in God
and an afterlife. If nothing else, it can at least provide a little bit
of comfort when something tragic like this happens.

See ya,
