I've heard it's in an alternate tuning, but I'd like to see any decent tab
available.
Thanks,
I figured it out quite a while ago, but
then didn't bother to write it down.
It was in a strange tuning - C?
I'll have to dig around.
The riff was a little tricky to, even
in the tuning.
I seem to recall that Miller had to
hire the session musician to go on
tour with him because none of his
tour guitarists could play the riff!!!

I met you on somebody's island
You thought you had known me before
I brought you a crate of papaya
They waited all night by your door
You probably wouldn't remember
I probably couldn't forget
Jungle love in the surf in the pouring rain
Everything's better when wet
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
But lately you live in the jungle
I never see you alone
But we need some definite answers
So I thought I would write you a poem
The question to everyone's answer
Is usually asked from within
But the patterns of the rain
And the truth they contain
Have written my life on your skin
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
You treat me like I was your ocean
You swim in my blood when it's warm
My cycles of circular motion
Protect you and keep you from harm
You live in a world of illusion
Where everything's peaches and cream
We all face a scarlet conclusion
But we spend our time in a dream
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Jungle love it's drivin' me mad
It's makin' me crazy
Seems like it is in open G (Slide tuning) and there is a capo at the
3rd fret. I seem to remember alot of open D chords.

Subject: TAB: Jungle Love (Steve Miller)
NOTES: I searched for a tab for this song for a long time but found only requests.
So, I decided to do it myself. However, I couldn't even figure out the tuning.
Thus, I decided to contact (via email) the original guitarist on the track: Greg Douglass.
Within minutes, I was in contact with the guy who held the secret to this great riffage!
The internet rocks. Anyway, Greg told me that it was all in the tuning - open A, to be exact.
Please tune your D string up to E, your G string up to A, and your B up to C#.
In addition to that non-standard (for rock/pop, anyway) tuning, the song was slightly sped up (about a half-step).
Greg recommended using a capo if you want to play along with the recording (esp. the harmonics riff!).
He also said Steve Miller had to hire him to play on the tour for that album because "he couldn't figure out how to
make the chords...I'm a sneaky guy!". Hearing that Steve Miller also couldn't figure it out, I didn't feel so bad.
Finally, it almost sounds like a slide is being used to vibrato on some of the chords, but it sounds fine without.
A great story, a cool guy, and a classic song.
I hope you enjoy this tab as much as I enjoyed making it.
Please send any corrections, info, etc. to the email address above.
Use Monaco or Courier font (or some other mono-spaced font) to read.
