"Peca em forma A-B-A, com frases quarternarias na seccao A, que funciona como
tema, com o baixo a como pedal e a melodia na voz superior. E desafiante
sobretudo a nivel harmonico, e pelos contrastes pedidos pelo compositor.
Funciona quase como um jogo de ecos, com um desenvilvimento e climax na seccao
central. Tecnicamente e das mais exigentes da serie, requerendo independencia
nas dinamicas, o que complica a tarefa da mao direita."

[an approximate, fairly literal translation from the Portugese into English]
"The piece is in the form A-B-A, with phrases of four beats in section A,
which acts as the theme, with the bass acting as a pedal and the melody in the
upper voice. It is challenging, especially at the harmonic level due to the
contrasts requested by the composer. It works almost like a game of echoes,
with a development and climax in the central section. Technically, it is one
of the most demanding pieces in the series, requiring independence in dynamics,
which complicates the task of the right hand."

"Sound figures are a series of small musical pieces indicating forms which as
well are to be found in more complex compositions. Therefore they are not to be
understood as fragments or sketches but as 'Images' or 'Figures' preparing most
efficiently - because of their shortness and technical facility - the later
playing of more complex works."

"...although the pieces are very easy to play, they demand a lot of control
over dynamic and sound, so there is quite a lot to learn from this work."
