Buying a D15 on Sunday - used - what should I check for?

Any common problems to look out for?
It's allegedly a standard D15 (old variety without sparkly fret markers I believe). The paper label on the inside says D-15 and "Mahogany Top" - does this mean mahogany all-round, or will it be Sapele? Does it matter?
I'll also be treating it to an International flight soon - any advice on the Martin 345 case versus the baggage handler fraternity?
Pretty excited to be getting my hands on one of these "brownies" so any advice welcome...
