Hi all here my take on Tuneing I have been trying to play lap steel
sent 1970 and still learning , I did have a sho-bud in the late 70th
tune to E9 but I found that just to much for me to get my head
around, I have a old Gibson lap steel that I played a lot in my
early years tuned to E7, But a old steel player told me to tune it
to C6 but I switch back and for low to high C-E-G-A-C-E but I have
now a 8 string that I have tune to C13 low to high Bb-C-E-G-A-C-E-G
that give me the 7th cords on the low end and everything in between
I play blues and country and I find that tuneing works for me!

Open E is very easy to learn, great for blues and rock.
L-H E B E G# B E
You can lower the 4th E string to D for a 7th or to C# for 6th
Hope this helps.
