My BOSS GT-6 used through my amp's effects loop?

Hello,
I'm going to be asking a string of othe Novice-like ignornat
questions, many based around my GT-6 and Electro-Harmonix pedals. Try
to go easy on me...

I went to a music store and tried a lot of effects pedals the other
day. Except for a FEW, the guy told me (and I've read) that stomp
boxes that are take the waveform of your guitar should run through
your amp's (mine is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe) effects loop as opposed
to straight into the guitar and other pedals that don't fluctuate the
signal so much. Pedals NOT to be put through your effects loop would
be like any overdrive and reverb pedals (if there are others, PLEASE
enlighten me! BTW, I want to use the distortion of the amp, NOT a
pedal; The OD will boost that signal for solos. UNFORTUNATELY [grrr!],
Fender never made a 3-button footswitch for MY PARTICULAR AMP that
would let me control the reverb, so I'm looking for a reverb pedal
too!)

Pedals like chorus, delay, tremolo, (and, again, if there are others,
PLEASE enlighten me!) etc. go through the effects loop.

NOW, to thicken this stew, , CAN I take my GT-6, and remove from the
patches *any* effect that runs in front of the amp (overdrive
distortion, reverb) and use the unit as a big effects loop module?!

The GT-6 usually runs in front of the amp and the manual doesn't
mention anything about effects loops in & out, but maybe someone out
there knows for sure.

Thanks for everything!

Check out www.gtcentral.com. It has tons of info for newbies and experienced
players who use the Boss GT series of effects.

I'm not sure what "are take the waveform" means. But pedals like wah
and overdrive should go before the amp. They definitely sound awful in
a loop.

That's true about overdrive. But a reverb pedal may or may not sound
better in the effects loop. It depends on a few things (the input
sensativity of the pedal, the signal level of the loop, etc.).

In that case, you'll need a reverb that works in the FX loop. Never
put reverb before the distortion, unless you like weird noises.

Pretty much, yes. But they can go in front too. They'll sound a little
different in each location.

That might work. You could even use the GT-6 for reverb. The only
thing that may be a problem is the signal level. Effects loops put out
a higher signal than what comes directly from your guitar. So you may
get unwanted distortion. But I don't have a GT-6 (I'm a Line 6 guy).
So hopefully someone else can answer that question.
