for my own personnal info...
what's the difference between :
Boss Super overdrive (japan with metal screws)
Boss Super overdrive (japan)
Boss Super overdrive (taiwan)

is one better than the other... if so wich one?
I'm also guessing the metal screws are those holding the plate underneath

thanks

Mel

You must have one hell of a big power supply and pedal board! >;^)

If you were to go touring, your effects loop would have a truck of its own!

Actually metal screw refers to the screw that holds down the footpedal, the
screw you turn to let the cover come up and expose the battery. The
earliest Boss pedals in the familiar rectangular format had a shiny metal
screw, which was replaced fairly early on by the familiar black screw used
since.

I wonder if you have ever hooked all of those together at one time. Man
what a noisefest!
Did you buy all those Walco pedals from eBay and where's that submarine
shaped fuzz or whatever you're always talking about?

wow!

I've seen Kate write here before that there was no difference in Japanese,
or Taiwanese pedals, so besides different screws or copyright prints there
are no differents.. I suppose??

Nice list Kate,

No, that's "metal screw" singular. As in, the screw that holds the
battery cover closed. The earliest Boss pedals used a plain metal
screw instead of the plastic-capped screw they use today. Today, they
are made in Taiwan rather than in Japan, which is where they were
originally made. So those SD-1s are listed in order of oldest to
newest.

They sound exactly the same.

Kate - I was very surprised at your very pedestrian guitar and amp list -
suggest you sell off 98% of your Boss and MXR pedals and get a "real"
Bassman, pre-66 Vox, plexi Marshall and a pre-60's Fender/Gibosn geetar or
2 and then you're talkin kid - would not need quite so many "visual aids" -
tone is in fingers, instrument and amp with a lil help from the stomp for
swirl and edge - I have about 25 assorted fuzzes, flangers, wahs etc. but I
really rely on my 56 Fender bassman, 59 deluxe, 61 vibrasonic, 2- 60's
black & brown reverbs, 67 Jennings JEI AC 40, 65 super reverb, and 61 Ampeg
B-15-N. I suggest you sell off your metal flake Danelectros and replace
with Jerry Jones - better built, "look and play correct" and will
appreciate in value since Dano/Evets sued Jerry J and he can't make his
excellent repros anymore. - Also, the omissions in your collection are
striking - no tube echoplex? No Fulltone Clyde? no original EH micro
synth, get to work gal - you got a way to go -

less is more - form follows function - stick with the classics. I love my
Collings but my pre-war Martin is the shite.....

oh yeah - I guess I am not worthy either -

yours in peace for the new yar - PB

Now, that is some collection!!!! There are many things there that most
people would kill for. I'm wondering what your favorite 10 stomp boxes
are......? Are there any pedals in your collection that you feel were a
complete waste of money?

You have all these in an apartment? It seems like you could add a wing
to a house for all those. I assume you play professionally with a
collection like that. Either that or you have one of those wierd Ebay
addictions.

Neither. I've had a fascination with effects pedals for years, now
make enough money to indulge it, and do so. :-)

Nah. I collect Boss pedals.

Er, I _have_ a pre-66 Vox AC-30... I'd love to have a '59 Bassman,
but who wouldn't? Ditto the plexi.

Yeah, but I COLLECT NOISE TOYS, dude.

I have a Fulltone Clyde. Tube Echoplex -- not an original one, no.
I collect for sound, anyway. Not just 'cause "it's collectable!"
I don't care about condition, as long as it works.

> less is more - form follows function - stick with the classics. I love my

Dunno. When I bought my Collings, I compared it (and every other 0M/000
style guitar in the store) to a pre-war Martin, and preferred the
Collings. Go figure.

Favorites, let's see ...

'67 CryBaby (Italian)
Sobbat DB-2 Drive Breaker
Ibanez OD9
DOD 690 Chorus
A/DA Final Phase
Garnet Herzog
Teese Picture Wah
Soldano Surf Box
Z.Vex Machine
Tech21 XXL

... in no particular order. And subject to almost daily change. :-)

The Walco effects are a complete waste of time. :-) They're about
the only ones, though. Most of the others do _something_ useful
or interesting.

Kate,

I have to say your a recklessly low in the Foxx department (and no the
French Toast does not count!), but otherwise I'd have to say your list is
three times bigger then I though it would be. Very amazing!!

Thanks for sharing....

Heh.

Don't fergit Roger Mayer pedals.

Isn't it great how people will tell
you how to spend _your_ money, even
if they don't have a stake in the outcome?

Kate: I am so impressed with that list of effects and amps and instruments.
It makes my own GAS attacks seem diminished by comparison.
Isn't it funny how others flame you because "their" favourite pedal or
guitar isn't on the list?
Hope you have good building security in your apartment complex. Mind you,
thieves would need a transport truck to haul it all away. Seriously, hope
that never happens to you.
Curious...I see you have some Line 6 modellers but no PODs. I don't own
them either, I just guessed you'd own them in the noise toys collection.

The DB-2 is more along Klon Centaur lines than Blackstone. It's a very
transparent overdrive -- the first time I used it, I wasn't sure it
was _on_ -- until I turned it off! And realized that all the gorgeous
tone I was hearing was coming out of it. It works really well at
breaking up a tube amp.

eBay, mostly. There's more of 'em than you think, eh? :-) Although
I think DOD may have the most models and variations of anyone.

Also get a pre-nuptial agreement that the guitar gear goes with
you if you ever get married and then divorced.

Your list is quite impressive. How long have you been
collecting? How long have you been playing guitar?

They'll have to change some outdated and ridiculous laws before I can
get married, I'm afraid.

Have you ever figured out what that collection is worth? In an
appartment...with a roommate? Sounds like a potential target for
evil-doers. How well do you know your roommate? Does the State Department
have a surveliance team out front? Be careful...One of my favorite guitars
got stolen out of my apartment in 1985 and I still get sad thinking about
it.

I think they're nice effects, but way overpriced. No other reason.
