1 - GREG GINN

Greg Ginn is synonymous with the US punk and independent scene of
the late 1970s and 1980s. As the founding member of Black Flag, his
role as guitarist quickly transformed into band leader and business
man. Because Black Flag was often labelled as violent and a threat
to civilised order by club owners and the media, the band was
forced to go DIY (a convenience when you consider the band didn't
want to sign to a major). Ginn founded the SST label to release
Black Flag's music, as well as ultimately putting out albums by
Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, the Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr and the Meat
Puppets.

2 - KIRK'S COLUMN

Hi fellow twanger, it sure has been a while. I'm still atop Tamborine
Mountain, which these days is parched and brown from the worst
drought of the century and I'm still working this Internet and
playing my guitars at every opportunity.

One of my favorite kind of gigs occurred last night. I got a call
from an old pal asking whether I'd be interested in joining his
lineup for a private function, playing the swampy bluesy kind of
kind of music I love to play. There's nothing I enjoy more than just
turning up, plugging in and playing - no rehearsals, no agents, no
organizing. Just playing.

3 - WHAT'S HOT WITH JAZZ GUITAR
by Doc Dosco
http://www.docdosco.com

This week we feature San Francisco guitarist Steve Erquiaga. Steve is
one of those rare talents that can handle both the jazz and classical
styles with equal facility. Very Impressive.

His latest CD 'Cafe Paradiso' is a collection of guitar duets in the
classical style. His earlier jazz styled CD was recorded with Weather
Report drummer Peter Erskine. Both CDs are very 'musical' sounding
and contain virtuoso playing. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed
what I heard.

4 - MANAGEMENT
By Pat Savage

Managers take on many jobs and faces. They can range from a full-scale

controller of an artist's life and a comprehensive all-service person
or company acting in conjunction with an artist, to a financial
adviser and money caretaker, to a minor player attending to various
aspects of an artist's career.

5 - GUITAR MAN ACOUSTIC GUITAR TIPS
Acoustic Day-to-Day Resource
http://www.guitartips.addr.com

I have a steel string acoustic guitar. Is there any way to reduce the
noise created when sliding from one chord to the next (i.e. this is
the noise created from your fingers sliding along the string(s) when
changing chord positions)?

6 - AX FACTS & STATS

Welcome to yet another "Ax Facts & Stat's". This month I welcome back
an old friend of cc6string's Guitar Resource page (the site that grew
to be the internationally acclaimed www.extremeguitars.com) Rik
Emmett.
Rik was one of the first interviews I have ever conducted with CC's
GRP, and because I started this entity November 1999, I wanted to
bring back Rik on EG.com's 3 year anniversary. Thanks again Rik for
taking part, as well as helping build extremeguitars.com up to where
we are today!

7 - HOW TO READ TABS
By Chris Elmore
http://www.GuitarTips.com.au

Tablature is a way of indicating the position of notes and fingering
on the guitar fretboard. There are 6 tab lines representing 6 strings
on the guitar.
