Is this the same "jim" that seems to be a guitar amp
expert? Posts in a couple other guitar and amp
related newsgroups?

Claims to be a lawyer. Claims his father is a lawyer.
Likely lives in Austin.

He's a thief. Admits to stealing copyrighted material
when his own father is an IP attorney.

No telling what other criminal activity he's been charged
with or has done but not been charged. If I was a better
computer geek, perhaps I'd know how to discover his
identity and run his criminal history check.

He's scared to identify himself.

He's probably already been sanctioned by his bar assoc
and if he gets in trouble with them again will be disbarred
or sent to prison. Maybe he's already been in prison and
is out on parole. Getting into trouble again might get
him sent back.

Wouldn't be the kind of guy I'd want to deal with for a lawyer.

Since he's afraid to identify himself, I think the safe route
would be to simply not hire any attorneys named Jim. That
way you're relatively protected against getting this unethical
criminal. Although I guess we really don't know that his name
is Jim either. He's such a coward, he may just have made up
that name as well.

That's my opinion.
