Anyone know wattage, speaker size, or anything else? My student is
playing through a 10 watt combo with a 6" speaker, so just about
anything would be an upgrade.
Thanks.

I'm not sure a 10watt amp with an 8" speaker is likely to be much of an
improvement on a 10watt amp with a 6" speaker.

Exactly. These things are only useful for drying headphones.
Steve, I urge you to urge your student to look for a nice used combo
amp in the 70-150 watt range. Brand doesn't matter. Nor condition so
long as it works. It will have enough power to actually sound like a
bass and even will be useful for small venues and basement jams. I
use a Laney BC 75 for practice. (or the full rig in the basement if
it's set up). But I love the Laney under my computer desk because it's
always here and ready to go. I have a bunch of practice amps and never
use them. I have made the mistake of taking them to someone's house to
demonstrate some music (because they are small and light) and it's
always a disaster because even for that they can't give you enough
tone to show anything.

I have a crate GLX 15. It's fun for around the house but I made a
lateral move to the Fender SuperChamp XD, I am very happy with it.
