I just bought a fretless 1972 Fender Jazz on Ebay and the whole thing has
been a positive experience. First of all, there weren't a lot of bidders as
the neck, tailpiece and pick ups are not original (Tom Anderson, Badass and
Seymour Duncan) and the fretboard has no markings, which is what I was
looking for. The final price was reasonable and several hundred $$$ below
what I was prepared to spend. There is no hard shell case and I didn't want
to buy a new one so the seller called a music store for advice on packaging.
They told him to bring it in and that they would take care of it for him.
Apparently he's a good customer and they not only packed it but also offered
to ship it to me at no charge. The seller decided to pass the saving on to
me and all that I paid was the bid price. They shipped it UPS Ground from
San Jose, CA and I received it less than 48 hours later. Sometimes Ebay, UPS
and humanity work in conjunction to make for a pleasant experience.

The store is Guitar Showcase in San Jose, CA and the guy who took care of it
is Dan. I never got to speak with Dan and hopefully will get to meet him,
and the seller, someday but if any of you are ever in the area and are in
need of something or just want to visit a customer service driven music
store please do so and mention that you saw it on AGB.

Great Bob, on two things. A pleasant Ebay experience and a good deal on
a sweet instrument, and going "blank plank". Hmmm, is that three
things?

Sunday morning punchy is fueling my brain, making me wish for a new
phrase ...

"Once you go blank, the rest is all wank"
no , that's not it...

"The blank plank is the one to spank"

Better, but not at all representative of the zen of bass playing that
an unlined board is ...
