To me, the D210XLT sounds great, except when handling the B string. It
doesn't give out that "thump" gratification a 1x15 can. This contradicts
lots of reviews I've read about how good the D210XLT's bottom end is.
I've just read some write-ups and reviews about the Acme Low B-2. Most are
written by people who previously own high-end gear like Ampeg, SWR and Eden
and have since sold them and are happy with the Acme. Most also swear that
the Low B-2 gives a better low end than a 1x15.
My question - if the Acme is that happenin', why isn't it being associated
with big name bassists? Are there technical/sonic factors (like it being
power-hungry) that might contribute to that? From what I know, there are a
number of things that go well for the Low B-2, eg, it's cheaper and lighter
than the D210XLT.

Good luck.

and yes they are lighter, I almost ripped open my nutsack trying to lug a
peavey 4x10 upatairs the other day, and my ACME has never left me feeling
too spent.

I use a single D210XLT live and it kicks, especially with my fives. I had an
Acme Low B2 for about a month and to me it's forte was low end reproduction (to
a degree). I didn't like the sound of it as far as mids and highs. I use an AMP
BH-420, EQ set flat. Gets much louder than required.
For me the Eden sounded better. Punchier than the Acme, sounded more like a
bass guitar cab than a PA speaker. I use mine with several low B's (pre-Gibson
Tobias 5, Fender MIA Jazz Deluxe 5, Zon Legacy Standard fretless 5, Lakland
55-94, Elrick New Jazz Standard fretless 5, Surine Protocol 7, Clover BassTard
5). Never breaks up, easily gets punch, very articulate without sounding thin.
I can't imagine what's going on with yours.

I didn't like the way most of my basses sounded through my Acme...except for a
Yamaha TRB6II that sounded very good through it...and weak through my other
rigs. I had trouble consistently dialing in a pleasing sound with a Trace
Elliot rig so I use an amp I don't have to dial at all. I look back at my
tri-amp days and have to laugh at myself.
There are days when I'm not happy with the sound I expect from some of my
basses but I realize that's more on me than them. OTOH each has their own
nuances and to me that's the beauty of them.
Thanks,
Brad
