Actually my reason for posting was more about how the poster stated he
thought the GB was better than the MB. Plus I like the idea of buying
American.

Most "boutique" amps around the 1K+ price point are pretty similar in terms
of features and quality. Markbass has a bit more 200 hz thump than Acoustic
Image, for example, but that wouldn't stop me from buying either.
OTOH, if you're talking about say, a GK Backline vs. a Behringer Ultrabass,
I can see that there would be significant differences in sound, quality, and
reliability. That's all I'm saying.
And if the "buy American" thing is a dealbreaker, you might want to open
that chassis and source the components first - including the wood for the
cabinets. Seriously. Unless they have their own component factory, my guess
is that GB didn't source most of their materials from America...
It's a lovely sentiment, but that ship sailed when the last big steel mill
shut down in the early 1980's.
I'm not mocking - I lived through the death of the Rust Belt, and moved here
just in time to catch the death of the textile industry. The reality is that
for a variety or reasons, America manufactures very little anymore, and what
they do manufacture is made with parts and machines from other countries.
Basing your decision on that factor severely limits your choices.

yes I understand that but it is still an American company.

Several months ago I was shopping a big powerful amp and had narrowed it
down to the GB 1200 and the top watt producer for MarkBass. I forgot
the model name. I went with the GB and am glad I did. I would buy one
of their smaller amps for my jazz gigs but I already own a Walter Woods.
I'm a few years ahead of the curve on the small light amp thing.
That's interesting. I have owned a Behringer and currently own a GK
backline. What sort of significant differences are you referring to?

I've played both and the Shuttle is MUCH cleaner, lighter and seems to have
more power even both they are both rated at 600 watts. I've played a # of
Markbass amps and they don't do a thing for me. The Shuttle is an AMAZING
little set up.

You really should play them both before you say that. I thought the Shuttle
was far superior than the Markbass. Neither can touch a Woods, but then
again, they are a less money too. :-)
