The Charvel CH200B is supposed to be a small amp with a surprisingly good,
loud sound. Wondering if anyone has one or has tryed one and if they
would be any good to use for small gigs. Thanks,

I played one in a music store once. Good practice amp, pretty
loud for only 20 watts. But I'd think twice about using it to perform
with. If you read about it in one of those Musician's Friend product
profile "true stories", I'd be careful. That one "true story" about that
bass amp was more or less the exact same story that they used to
advertise the Charvel guitar amp. Personally, I think Musician's Friend
has decent prices, but they really insult the intelligence of their
customers.

I've had one of these for about a year and a half now. While it does have
a decent tonal range (using a passive p/j combination), and is fairly loud
(at least in a college dorm room), it is in no way suitable for gigs --
any drum set or guitar amp would completely drown it out. However, for a
practice amp, it is quite good for the money. I think mine cost <$90.
