I know his basses are custom made, and he has done endorsements
for Ampeg.

He used to be associated with ADA, when they were still in existence.
The ads shows him with the bass preamp (MB-1), but I understand he
actually used the guitar preamp (MP-1). Both are fancy MIDI-programmable
preamps with lots of built-in effects.

Carl Thompson--see http://members.tripod.com/%7Ectbasses/ for a fairly
exhaustive CT WWW page, written by a CT owner/fan.

Also, Bass Player has several interviews with Les online which talk about
his gear, the most recent being at

He used to do adds for his other amps, can't recall if they were GK or
some other initial-only company. His 6 string fretless is custom made
by some guy in New York, I forgot the name. He also had a 4-string
fretted Jazz I think.

Basically, I am no help, just cobwebs in the resin-filled brain from
the glory days of Primus back when I was in college. Their latest
album is a return to the original days of cool stuff, in my opinion.
I broke out Frizzle Fry for the first time in a while just today!

Two months ago on the Antipop tour he was using two older Ampeg SVT3Pro
heads. I believe one is used clean and the other is used with a modified ADA
MP-1. He also used an Ampeg 8x10 cab and a Ampeg 2x15 cab.

He uses Carl Thompson basses and old '60s Jazz basses.

Used to be big into Mesa Boogie heads and cabs. He's now endorsing Ampeg
gear (don't know about the cabs).

He used Carl Thompson Custom basses Exclusively in early primus stuff and
recently moved back to a Fender Jazz bass for a lot of tunes. Still uses the
CT's though.

actually, according to an early bass player magazine, he did a lot of
Frizzle Fry on an eko copy of a hofner beatle bass.

I think Les currently uses Ampeg SVT3Pro head's and a combination of Mesa
Boogie Cabs and Ampeg Cabs. He also has an ADA preamp. It was actually a
guitar preamp that was modified by one of the guys at ADA to work for bass
(Les advertised for the ADA MB1..the bass version..but he didn't use it).
ADA is currently defunct.

Hmm..I hadn't heard that, though I know at least one song was on the Eko.
Most of Highball with the Devil was the Eko as well.
