Anyone ever hear of The Bass Company basses? There's one at a pawn shop
near here and it's pretty nice cheap bass. Kinda like a Musicman crossed
with a Jazz bass sized neck.

I played a few of those in a Jax, FL. music store. George's. Seemed like
decent copies. Affordable, passive. Think just a tad nicer than OLPs basic
model.

Hmm, how long ago was that? I drop by George's about once a week or so and
I don't think I've ever seen one. I've only been going regularly for a
little over a year I guess.

I think TBC must have gone belly-up. They used to have an Ebay store
selling their Basses direct and a regular ad in Bass Player but they've
disappeared. I tried one of the four string Jazz Basses at a used gear
place and it was really nice for the money.

George's, on the beach. Around 1999.

AAh, long before my time here. I was in DC back then playing piano. The
one I frequent is the Orange Park store anyway.

They had just opened that Orange Park store, my last year there. I lived on
Collins, just across Blanding. Almost walking distance from that store.

Oh yes, I know Collins well. There must be at least a half dozen fraternal
org clubs on that mile or so between Roosevelte and Blanding. (Moose, Elks,
Fleet Reserve, VFW ??) I think I've played them all.

My favorite was the Polish American Club, right at Blanding and Collins. NW
corner. I'm 1/2 Polish ;-)

Damn, I've never been there. I have worked the German American club behind
the Roosevelte mall on the river and the Italian American club on Mandarin
road near where I live.
