Does anyone which brand owns the lion share of the electric bass
market, I presume Fender for quantity but also for value? It may be a
little difficult to establish, given all the sub-brands produced under
the "mother" brand..

Unless things have changed, it's the Samick factory. A few years ago I
read they were producing something like 80% of Korea's guitar output.
Most of these did not carry the Samick name, BTW, but were produced
for other brands (including at least some of the Korean Fenders, I
believe).
It must be true; I read it on the internet...
