Ive been playing a frettless 78Pbass exclusively since I bought it in
78.I think its a nice sounding ax.However, before buying one, check for
dead spots,especially e-flat,d,and d-flat on the g string.(6th,7th,8th
frets).A lot of fenders were known to have that problem.

Well, as some would point out check the thing for dead spots along the neck,
70's Fenders were known to have a problem with that. Having said that, however,
the '78 P-bass I have is about as good as it gets. Natural finish, nicely aged,
black pickguard, rosewood neck. Even has the original ashtray bridge and pickup
covers! Previous owner had it fully shielded - very quiet (except where it
counts!). No dead spots anywhere, great tone, nice action - might take it to a
pro to get it properly set up as I haven't played it for a long while and as I
am taking up playing again, I would like to see how much lower I can get it.
Only thing, is some glitches in the finish, not too bad though. Overall though
I love it and will probably never get rid of it - if I can help it.
