Hi Folks,

Well, this years NAMM booth was UNREAL!! the folks at PRS decided to honor
the late great Ted McCarty by making all of the guitars in the booth McCarty
Burst with Gold hardware. They were all incredibly Stunning!! It was a
wonderful tribute to Mr. McCarty. Here is a link to the page we have set-up
to showcase the booth. http://www.indoorstorm.com/namm/summer01/summer1.htm
We have the guitars available here at Indoor Storm. Even the guitars that
are not available in McCarty Burst (Standards, Santana's, and Basses) were
built in this color. These will be rarities! I am going to post the list of
all the guitars on rec.music.makers.marketplace only. Please go check it
out, and give me a call if you are interested.

Take Care,

Ok, before I read to the end, I'll guess that IndoorStorm bought a
bunch that are now for sale and can be seen on
www.indoorstorm.com... ok, now let's go read...

Dave, you might want to have a chat with Doug. Typically, people
don't like seeing for sale posts in newsgroups unless those newsgroups
have been created for that specific purpose. Some readers will also
go balistic when it's a "for sale disguised as a report or review"
type of post.

Your post, and many of Doug's post fall in that category, so much so
that I knew the type of post it was before I finished reading it.
People have come to expect this when they see "...@indoorstorm.com".

But then again, Doug probably has tought about it and thinks that the
bad publicity his business gets is outweighed by the benifits...

Personnally, I prefer to not see any type of "we have stuff for sale"
posts in a discussion newsgroup. But that's just me.

Regards,

I am sorry for the sale references. I am pretty new on the newsgroups, and
haven't figured out the etiquette just yet. I will not put any references to
selling on the groups other than market place. Please accept my apology, and
know it will not happen again.

Frankly, I don't mind... We don't get THAT many posts to have to sift
thru... Plus I like PRS guitars and in this instance I was happy to see the
URL...

And Stephane? Well, he won't bite..

As far as I'm concerned, with all the flaming and off topic crap people spew
on these newsgroups, don't worry... At the rate you send these questionably
spammy messages, most won't care... Just don't disguise them as anything BUT
a FS ad... That would be the best netiquette...

I don't see any problem with the Indoor Storm posts as they are on topic and often
informative. If your posts were simply a weekly sale with no discussion of the product,
that would be different. I enjoyed looking at those McCarty sunburst PRS NAMM guitars.

Could be we don't have too many of them because we don't have every
dealer posting here. Put another way, would you be happy if every
dealer on the net dropped by and posted what they have for sale?

Well, I don't care for PRS, but I would have said the same thing if
Dave had posted about, say, strats.

I'm just a harmless 90%... I think I was polite enough in my response
to Dave. Wasn't I?

At the very least if there's a "FS: ...." subject line, then they're
sending a warning :-)

Whether folks want to see the sales references or not, that was a stand up
response Dave. It speaks well of your company and your personal integrity
IMHO. I think a lot of newsgroup would prefer that people who post for sale
items or mention new gear be participants of the newsgroup, rather than
casual sales folk posting. Participating in some newsgroups can provide you
with a lot of potential demographic input from fairly knowledgeable
users/customers.

Just my two cents worth, then no more cross-posting for me.

Seriously, Stephane, I still wouldn't care... Before i started reading here
I was reading rec.audio.pro which was waaaaay worse than this, plus they get
about 400 -750 or so posts a day... At leasy 1 third are blatant sales stuff
like FS, FA etc... It's rather disgusting and folks don't seem to care...
Also that group is pretty serious and on topic a LOT... rmmg is like Romper
Room in comparison...

That's cool... I still wouldn't have cared, but in retrospect I DO hate
crossposting... That is one impolite thing to do IMO... But still I.S.
contributes just as much as advertise...

Oh sure, you were fine! You were just giving your opinion... I respect your
opinion... But in this matter, I don't care about the spam at all...
EsPECially if he doesn't crosspost anymore...

I see your point and I agree with it to a degree, but there's still not many
to sift through... He wasn't obnoxious about it...

Now that Jeff Stapleton guy annoys me with posts on FS stuff and NEVER
contributes... I wouldn't buy ANYthing from that guy... ANd he probably
doesn't bother you at all ;-) ... People like that (and Jarl) who post out
of undesguised selfishness bug me a WHOLE lot more.

But who the F*ck am I?
