Have a similar kind of story: had a fellow worker in a previous job give me
an old trombone after telling him I used to play one, and decided it was in
good enough shape to take in for a slide job. Had it done through my best
friend's son's high school band teacher, so it wasn't too costly. Turns out
it is a Bach Stradivarious model 12, and even though the lacqour is pitted
and worn, it's still worth respectable amount of bucks, with or without a
new lacqour job. The teacher told him any time I wanted to sell it, to give
him a call.

Sounds cool as hell! I tried Sax for 2 years, it was
