looking for opinions.......would you get a Godin BG IV $900.(active EMG's)
or Fender Am Std Jazz $850.(passive). ......also an opinion as to which may
hold its value better. thanks

I just wanted to add that I have pretty well narrowed things down to
one of these two and would also appreciated any comments.

They are both seem like great basses for the price. The Godin plays
and looks great. The only thing I'm not sure about is the maple body.
It has ton's of sustain (like a Hammond) maybe to much? Too bad they
don't include a decent case as well.

I may have a chance to buy a used American Jazz so maybe I would have
the best of both by putting EMG's on the Jazz bass with the money I'll
save by buying used.

Thanks..... Jerry

Resale value is another big thing that makes the Jazz bass attractive.
I've been burned before on resale by buying nonstandard or less
popular models even if they are great. I'm even a little reluctant
about the American Jazz Deluxe because even adding Deluxe or Plus or
Special or anything else can limit your resale market. The meaning of
these terms becomes a little mirky to most people after the model has
been dicontinued. Anyway "Anyone want a Fender Strat Plus Deluxe in
mint condition? I wish I could trade it for a good American Jazz
bass".
