I know the SVT Classic accepts either 2 or 4 ohms worth of speaker
cabinet(s)......but, would it be possible to run the amp on an 8 ohm
cabinet? I know you can do a slight impedance mis-match with tube
guitar amps, but I'm not certain with the SVT bass amp. Ideas?

Thanks,

Mook

You should be OK. You normally get more problems with a cab being below the
stated impedance not above.
Is there no way that you could wire it so that you've got 4 ohms?

Just get another cab with 2 paralell inputs, and plug the 2nd cab into the
first, out the other plug then into the amp! WHALLA! a 4 ohm impedence load.
This is what I had to do with my 2-15 and 4-10 into my Classic.Let me tell
you, the differece between running both cabs separately into the head as
opposed to the affore mentioned method is night and day tone wise.
Hope this helps, Scott

This is mainly true with solid state amps. A tube amp prefers the opposite. In
any case, I would not run an SVT at anything other than what it is designed to
run at.
