*Real* nice sounding clip. Curious how versatile that amp is.

Thanks for that, sweeet!

I think these amps are as good, and they may be some of the prettiest
amps ever made.

Apples and oranges.
I have reasonable copies of both, and they are great amps that do
different things.

Dumbles do much better cleans.

Who cares! ;-) I'd love an opportunity to jump on one of those just
to hear the differences. I've heard several recordings of Robben Ford
through his Dumble v. Fenders. Just something about the depth of tone
that's very pleasing to my ears anyway.

Lots of great players use(d) Dumble amps, but he is not even doing
repairs on stars' amps now so, they have gone to other makers who have
basically cloned the circuit.

Here are some of the makers who do an outstanding job of Dumble
cloning:

Bludotone - Robben Ford currently using
Fuchs - Jimmy Herring's choice
Brown Note - CO based
Ceriatone - based in Malaysia, and very affordable
Two Rock - loads of people from John Mayer on using them

Since circuits are not copyright/patentable, they are fair game. Lots
of really good makers out there today besides the usual suspects.

Brandon Montgomery, friend and customer for years.

All of his amps ship with my glass on board. Santana
and Larry Carlton are also playing Bludotones. Bludotone
is in Denver. BTW - the majority of Brandon's Dumble
clones ship with the Reflektor/Tung-Sol 6L6GC-STR
installed. While the Winged C 6L6s sound great, they
turn into rattletraps after about three months of road
duty and become unusable. The Tung-Sols turned
out to be fabulous for this application, and they hang
in there on the road. Brandon likes the JJs for the
preamp; I can't stand 'em, myself, but they seem to
work just right for the way he's building his amps.

> Fuchs - Jimmy Herring's choice

Heard they were good.

> Brown Note - CO based

Brown Note is out of California, not Colorado.

> Ceriatone - based in Malaysia, and very affordable

Most Chinese transformers suck.

The Chinese will, however, build you an excellent
transformer if you're willing to pay for it. It won't
be much cheaper than a high-quality tranny built
anywhere else - if at all.

> Two Rock - loads of people from John Mayer on using them

Also heard they were good.

> Since circuits are not copyright/patentable, they are fair game.

Nonsense. Circuits most are certainly patentable.

Randall Smith, for instance, holds a patent on the
pentode-triode switch - if you can believe that.
I was installing those *way* back in the day;
they were common knowledge in the hi-fi
circles and it didn't take long for the guitar dudes
to hop onboard.

Let me make that a bit more clear:

All of his amps - from the very beginning - have shipped
with my glass on board. In fact, Brandon was here Monday
and picked up 10 quads of Tung-Sol 6L6GC-STR and 24
pieces of JJ ECC83-S. Brandon knows full well that he
can get them much cheaper from the importer - New Sensor -
than the price I charge. He also knows that my QC is *vastly*
superior to theirs, and to that of just about anyone else out
there. When he's busting his balls to keep up with the demand
for his handcrafted amps, and when his customers include
people like Robben Ford, Santana, Larry Carlton (etc.) and
other music industry luminaries, it simply doesn't make
sense to buy glass from outfits with indifferent or haphazard
QC procedures. You may find a few other boutique amp
manufacturers in my sig - these would include people who
buy all or nearly all of their glass from me, such as Roccaforte,
Bludotone, Reinhardt and so forth, and people who usually
buy stuff with special selection parameters, like Germino, Waky,
Jim Kelley, Maven Peal, Gerhart and the like. Others are only
occasional customers now, due to limited production or to them
having decided to do their own QC. Feel free to contact any of
them. There *is* a reason all those companies buy from me...
but you're probably too far gone in the throes of your full-blown
terminal case of The Willies to figure out what it is.

Groove Tubes refers to their products as "theirs," even though
they don't make any of them. They, too, list prominent musicians
who use their products - as do Harma, TAD, TNT, Mojo, Ruby, etc.

It's called "business," you clueless asshole. Don't like it? Go fuck
yourself - and get a job. BTW - a heartfelt thanks for providing yet
another opportunity for me to promote myself, thus further enriching
my already bloated coffers.

Thanks for the corrections Lord of the Valves. I clearly got Brown
Note and Bludotone mixed up location wise.

As far as circuits go, why is it that all the classic Fender and
Marshall circuits are regularly cloned here and abroad without
consequence?

Not being a smart ass, just curious.

I have had a Ceriatone OTS for over a year now, and gig once weekly
with it. No issues, wonderful amp for $1200.

I have JJ's in it.

Marc, the Bludo/Fuchs/Brown Notes all run similar in price, so around
$3500 for a fully built amp.

With Ceriatone and Brown Note, you can buy kits and DIY. Obviously
cheaper that way. Some killer clips on the BN site.

Yeah, yeah...and the wind blew, and the shit flew, and meanwhile, back in

Good thing you ignored this and didn't insult anybody.

LOL! I know you're not trying to be humorous, but consider that you
keep jumping into "Lord Valve" threads, then insulting people, and
then insisting that they don't jump into Lord Valve threads and insult
people.

Did you happen to read the subject line? Guess who wrote that.
Your bud "LV" does not play guitar, and spends most of his time
disrupting and trolling aga. Yeah, better defend him against those
nasty guitar players.

Pretty funny, dude. Well, as long as everyone -else- practices
what you preach, eh?

I wonder how many of your current customers would bail if the
juvenile bullshit you spew while hiding behind a keyboard started
getting auto-forwarded to every email address I can dig up?

That's not a bad Idea. Let them see what sort of asshole they're
REALLY dealing with.

Ow. ;-)

And I never said I couldn't play the guitar. I play it
rather badly, in fact, but I'm reasonably sure that
my efforts are less cacophonous than the Barking
Seal Symphonies routinely perpetrated by Mulay
and his fellow no-blowers. Truth be told, I'm utterly
infatuated with the sound of the guitar, and were
I not already an accomplished player of a vastly
superior instrument, would certainly endeavor
to increase my skill with it. Indeed, I own three of
them, instruments commeasurate with my skills -
a 1963 Hofner, a Dean strat clone, and a (ahem)
Viper. <shudder>

Time for my usual 4-hour Sunday shed session.
I gotcher modes, right here.

See now, your transparently feigned bravado and laughable threats
bely the fact that the last thing you want is for your asininity
here to be brought to the attention of your superiors.

Getting more tempting all the time. Wouldn't be but a 10 minute job
to set up the filter and auto-forward. Maybe I'll start with just
the off topic bullshit you initiate. See how it goes.

Don't worry cupcake. The very last thing I'll do is move your ass
kicking from here to Denver proper.

Why all this animosity toward you, Mr Plow? You appear to be one of the

Exactly! Meat Plow is exactly like LV - two peas on a pod.

That's also correct. LV is more of a troll than an asset IMO.
