Anyone know how many watts the S is rated for? 8-10W would be my guess. A
40W cabinet would be nice. I'll figure out what to do with it after I build
it. Another project I don't need, but I'll have fun doing it anyway, if it
materializes. The idea is to build it from 0.5" birch ply so it won't weigh
so much.
Damn, Angela used to have a picture of a chart from an old catalog, but that
must have got the ax when he redid the website. Anyone seen his website
lately? I hardly recognized the place.
Thanks.
Phil - the "S"(for Standard) series is definitely low wattage - they
were on the lowest quality/build rung, beneath the Professional and
Concert series speakers. Lots of people avoid them because of this. I
think they sound great - particularly if they are the alnico Ps. At
some point they switched them to ceramic but kept the P prefix. I
don't know anything about those.I think your in the right ballpark
with your watt estimate. I don't know of a chart anywhere that gives
the exact numbers - although someone here might. My personal take on
the dimensions would be to go for a 28" square, or mount them
diagonally a go for a rectangle of the same area.My two pfennigs...

Thanks very much, Chuck. Only if cheap seems to be the watchword on these.

I'd be willing to pay $20 or so per piece, if I was building. You
won't be disappointed with the sound. Are yours the alnicos?

It lists P10S in the Concert Series but at only 9 watts each. I'd
think a 4 x 10 cab would be a great project for them. Let us know how
it comes out.

Looks like this one isn't going to happen. Speakers will cost more than
they are worth. Maybe another time/place. Thanks for the advice.
Phil
Someone on our version of Ebay is selling 4 Jensen Model P10R alnicos and
states these stats:
10 inch diameter, 25 Watt r.m.s, 8 ohms impedance, alnico magnet, Italian
made.

Well, they started making them in Italy when? Early 80s? It sounds
like a third generation under that name. Of course, the seller 'could'
have the wattage wrong. The early ones - generally mid-50s to mid 60s
were often used in organs, and the amps in those tend to be in the
10-20 watt range, but not exclusively, of course. I'd still feel
pretty good about Phil's guess with these.
Chuck
...although IMHO the italian P10R is pretty nice.
