Does anyone know if ANY of the Peavey TransTube electric guitar
amps have HEADPHONE JACKS??? I'm thinking of buying one, since
they look like a great deal for the money, but I'd really like
a headphone jack. Does anyone know???

I happen to have a TransTube Bandit 112. It comes without a 'phones jack,
but it does have a line level post reverb jack which disconnects the
power amp--even though it's a mono jack, it should be able to drive
32 ohm headphones.

But, you don't really need them: what I do is that I route the line-out
through an attenuator and then back into line-in: it's basically your
PowerSoak and a 50 cent 100K audio taper is more than suited for the job.

The clean channel distorts beautifully when the gain is opened to 4 o'clock,
and you get to keep the actual volume low enough not to disturb the people
in the other room (I prefer to practice at the conversation level, just loud
enough that I don't hear the unamplified strings).

BTW, the amp is decent for the money (NB: I live in Austria--we're even
more expensive than Germany; Japan comes close) and is enough for my use.
It manages to produce bluesy tone which is very pleasing to my ear.

Distorted channel made my TS-9 redesign obsolete (it's now used for an
interesting immitation of a slightly overdriven Hammond from a Roland
SoundCanvass). It is rather dirty, though (go overdriven clean for sweeter
distortion).

So, feel free to flame me for a positive review of a tranny Peavey.
Hell, I'll make it easy for you: I prefer my stock Yamaha RGX 612S to any
contemporary stock Strat or Gibson Les Paul I've tried, both in tone and
playability :) And the 612 was way cheaper than either (okay, so it's more
worth as firewood if I want to sell it, but it still screams :)

As far as the differences between BSD and Systems V, that's
simple. System V sucks and BSD doesn't. :)

I've got the Audition 110, and it has a headphone jack. Also a cd
input.

Joel,

I don't remember the exact model numbers, but as I recall, some of the
smaller versions do have headphone jacks built in. Hang on a minute,
lemme check my files....

Yup. The Rage 158 and Blazer 158 (15 watts RMS into 4 ohms) and the
Audition 110 (25w. RMS into 8 ohms) have headphone jacks. None of the
large ones do, though.

All the best,

Will

Yes. I looked at them a year ago and found that the lowest one or few in
the line had headphone jacks. S at least they DID at one time. Good
luck, and like 'Mikey' you should try it... you might like it.

Yes they do have HJ. I have a Transtube Blazer 158 amp - and it has

I had an Audition 110 which did have a headphone jack, and that was one of
the main reasons I got rid of the amp and bought a Marshall Valvestate.
The Peavy had a very distracting hiss through the phones which had nothing
to do with the volume level of the amp. My Marshall is silent (until I hit
the strings anyway).

A CD input? Does that mean you can amplify a soundtrack from CD trough
the AMP and play along with it??? That would be really cool for practice
purposes!

I've since sold my peavy transtube bandit 112. As for a practice
amp, It sounds great. As for playing with a real band behind you, It
licks balls.
