I'm trying to locate the whereabouts of Alex Prenn. Is there anyone here who
has any knowledge of such?

The following is an email I received from Celestion .

I have worked at Celestion for some time, and can remember Alexis (Prenn) very
well. You are right in that he was a relation to the owners - his grandfather,
Daniel Prenn, bought Celestion in 1949, and only sold it a few years before his
death in the early 1990's. Alexis worked his way through Celestion, learning
all there was to learn, right from the shop floor to board level. He got on
very well with everyone and was respected by all.

Unfortunately, we have now lost touch. The last we heard, was that Alexis was
running another of the family's businesses - SLIX - a range of swimwear and
gymwear, but I know this company went into receivership and was sold. I'm sure
the Prenn family still live in London, but when I tried directory enquiries,
all Prenn's are ex-directory (number with-held).

I'm sorry I could not be of more help, but it may be possible for you to trace
him somehow! If you do - send him our best wishes!

Hello,

Some time back, around 1984, I opperated a music store in Belmont,
Massachusetts called R.S.F. Music. We dealt with a Celestion rep named
Alex,

a very warm and friendly British fellow who was going to school over here
(I seem to want to recall that it was Boston University??), and who I
believe was supposed to be related to one of the owners of Celestion. I
would like very much to speak with Alex again, but don't remember his
last name and I don't know his whereabouts. Is there someone who could
help me?

Much Appreciated,
Best Regards,
Kent Pearson

Kent, I knew Alex well. I've been trying to find him for a while now. Please let me know if you have any luck. Also, I believe we've met. I live in NH now but grew up with/played with Jim Mouradian and Scott Baerewald. I bought a guitar preamp that some guy (allegedly from NASA) designed from the store in Belmont. Please feel free to give me a call. I'm headed to Spain in December and will be sin England for a few days. I have been designing/building MI cabs for years and did consulting for Celestion for a long time.

..wow..memories...well, sort of...

A few years before that, I worked for a shop a
few doors up from the (still there) med supply
store, that did electronic repairs, IMMSMW, it
was called Belmont A/V repair, or something
like that. The owner, while a weird sort of
bloke, could fix anything..I mean anything..
handed to him, and I learned alot. Now, alas,
I can't even remember his 1st name..which will
bother me all day till I do. Great guy, on the side,
sold awesome weed too. Thanx 4 the memories..

I believe his name was Gary, in fact there was
2 'gary'(s)' there. I might be wrong. I know I got paper
somewhere, but, alas, have other matters..maybe this is
sort of a "..time out.." for me..thanks folks. I do seem
to remember said subject being brought up B4..oh well..

I had to be cusp'd around 20, yet often busked from Worc
to Belmont, as I did to other towns, back then the music
store world was, well, within a 55 mile small circle of friends.

Now, who wants to busk from 1 GC to another.. ..anyway..

This is all true, been told before, write it down if ya care..

Around said time, what was left of New York Audio Labs (NYAL)
was selling out whatever the lawyers could pimp, and the only
person who could keep the name sake alive was Mr. G. Kaye.

I was lucky to stay at his house at the time, it wasn't easy, ended
up with a few x# parts....remember them..and today, George has
all rights to the name, produces a awesome product, Mr. Futterman
himself is so proud, saved the whole 9 yrds of bacon. I got involved,
seeing how this could all work, MI wise, but is wasn't to be..2 late..

OH..said parts, a few 100 matched sets of MOSFETS went to 'Gary'
at Belmont. He put them in stuff that, back then, used them. In many
ways, he re-cycled and furthered on the NYAL name big time.

I don't know where Gary is today, but hey dude..thanx.. George
still plays a mutherflocking mean stand up bass, no sheit, really,
that was what drew me to NYAL. No way could you do a OTL guitar
amp, back then, and the MOSCODE stuff was MADE for bass.

No joke, the 2nd of only 4 times I saw him play live, I was scared,
he is that good a bass player. They should be scrap'n his DNA..

..off topic, sf_ is in on this all too, in a good way..?..?

..kayfabe..guess ya had to be there..

He also ended up with *BAGS* of 2wt carbon 470 ohm res from
Horizion of central Ma, next door to EAW, who bought all them
there 460 number proc chips (460?) "..exit'd.." from NEC 1 of
those misty mornings..? They were a 2nd chip that did ##
work, Happauge or some one did the big mutherboard..

....just finding all this paper..time limits & all that rot...

If we only knew. Saved all this stuff. yet with the 46x stuff,
today it would be paperweight. Back then, $$$$$$...big..$$.

I do believe that was his name, esp due to the 2 'gary's
thing, I do remember two of them. Ah. good times...

If you wanna go crazy and act like a clown,
Be the laughing stock all over town,
That's your red wagon,
That's your red wagon,
So just keep draggin' your red wagon along!

If you stick your nose some place it don't belong,
Don't you come to me if things go wrong!
That's your red wagon,
That's your red wagon,
So just keep draggin' your red wagon along!

If you wanna smoke hop, drink 'china tea',
Give ya Jelly Roll away for free..
That's your red wagon,
That's your red wagon,
So just keep draggin' your red wagon along!

When you're making your bed,
Remember you'll do the lying there!
When you buttered your bread,
Don't expect me to eat your share!

If you're gonna play horses and blow your dough,
Don't you run to me if they don't show!
That's your red wagon,
That's your red wagon,
So just keep draggin' your red wagon along!

So the one you left me for is tired of you,
Baby, why call me 'cause I'm tired too?
That's your red wagon,
That's your red wagon,
So just keep draggin' your red wagon along!

Now you've finally learned
That you get burned when you play with fire!
Don't come running to me,
You can't use me for your spare tyre!

If you don't have love songs to fit my key,
Baby, don't sing your blues to me!
That's your red wagon,
That's your red wagon,
So just keep draggin' your red wagon along!
