Hey Folks -- I need a Gibson AD-1 adapter for the low impedance pickups of my 1969 Les Paul Bass. The adapter went missing after a gig and has not turned up. I'm using an old Radio Shack adapter, which works, but doesn't sound as good to me. I've heard that the Shure A95U adapter is equivalent.

Any thoughts on this or leads on the Gibson AD-1 appreciated.

It's not equivalent, it's identical. It's still in production,
you can find it on Amazon:

In 1970, I was in a band where both the guitarist
and the bassist had Les Paul Personals. I know
about the A95 thing because they were always losing
their transformers; as the band's Electrical
Wizard, it was my job to go pick up the right
adapter from the electronics store. For the
bassist, who was losing about a transformer a
month, I finally wound up installing an XLR
in his Traynor YBA-3A so he could just use a
mike cord between his axe and his amp. I wired
the transformer to the XLR and stuck it to the
inside of his amp with some silicone. The guitar
player (wisely) elected not to have the same thing
done to his '66 Super Reverb.
