I don't have one, but I have tried it and several other of the tronix
series. Main problem, they all sound like modelling amps, in other
words they present snapshots of sounds, rather than the dynamically
variable sounds of the originals. Secondary problem, the one tone they
don't get well is the basic Vox sound. IMO.
This is my first real amp. My previous amp is a 10 watt solid-state Fender
practice amp that can't even really overdrive.
There is a lot to learn about this amp. It models 11 different amps and
allows something like 11 different effects. You can play the presets or
define your own combinations of amp+effects. The effects are reasonably
configurable.
The amps being modeled include everything from what I expect is a famous
2-speaker Fender amp (Blackface?) to a Bassman to some very crunchy
high-distortion amps. Since I have never played a real amp I can't say how
good the modeling is. I do know that it is a damn sight better than what I
had, and for the price (thr ADVT15 is about $180) how can you beat it?
Now, here is why I don't recommend the ADVT15. Unlike the 15 watt amp, The
30 and 50 watt models have an additional volume control that allows you to
lower the volume without lowering the power. So you can play fully cranked
and not deafen yourself.
The dealer loaned me a ADVT15 until my ADVT30 gets delivered. My ADVT30
cost $240.
I'll post more later, I haven't really figured out how to operate it :-/
