Hi -

I have a '68 Princeton Reverb with the drip edge. I've switched out
the blue back speaker (still have it, though), and it sounds great. I
have two questions:

1. The grill cloth is really dirty. Should I clean it? What is the
safest way to do so without screwing up the value?

2. I got the amp 15 years ago, and it never had a tube chart. How
does this affect the value? Should I bother with a repro?

Thanks, all.

Jim

I collect vintage amps and, generally, don't touch the grill cloths. Unless
someone has some secret method of cleaning them up, I'd stick to using a
hairdryer set to cold to blow it off if it has accumulated dust.

Forget the repro label. If you want to convince a potential buyer that
you're trying to scam him, the best way to go is to put on repro parts and
not tell. To a strict collector, the missing label will reduce the value,
but probably not by as much as the rest of the overall condition and
originality of the amp.
