Hi there.
Does anyone know where I can get high resolution images of famous
paintings? I want to do some composites with replacing the heads of
people in paintings with those of friends and family members. I need
the resolution high enough that it will look good when printed as an
8x10.
I've scoured the internet but so far I've only come across small, low
resolution images. Thanks a lot.

I would buy a book or go to the library and scan them!

Although I think the resolution of the images on the site here (
http://sunsite.org.uk/cgfa/index.html ) are maybe not high enough for you, I
have found it invaluable for research into famous artworks etc. Maybe you
can use it as a starting block.

They have for me. But I haven't tried every picture. If the A.B.P.F-.A. newsgroup
doesn't have what you want, sometimes a search on the Google "image" search will
find the picture you are looking for.

Try www.rijksmuseum.nl. For example, there is a jpeg of the Nachtwacht
(Nightwatch) bij Rembrandt van Rijn with a pixelsize of 1600x1333. All
famous pieces in their collection can be viewed in high resolution.

Try using 'Genuine Fractals' plug-in for Photoshop.
