this is odd..... my client has just handed me a magazine article, and
the want me to scan it and put it in a pdf.
full letter size pages, tiny little type.
they do not have the original electronic art, of course.
I guess I can just scan as jpgs and then imbed into a pdf using
acrobat?
never thought about this... will it work? It seems kinda
bone-headed...
any advice?
the advantage of the .pdf is that the text remains vectorial so that there
wont be
any quality loss...
to do so you'll have to scan with an OCR software and than send it to the
pdf printer

----
Try just scanning into Photoshop
and saving as Photoshop PDF.
I did on as a test just now -
it saves as PDF at the rez you scan
I did a 8.5 x 11 at 3ooppi ( bitmap )
had a 1.2 MB scan
down to a 44 K PDF
Very quick! No fooling with Acrobat.

thats a great idea, but the machine they have me hooked up on, only
has Photoshop 5.... didnt see "save as photoshop pdf"...., and there
were several pages in the article......
anyway, i just scanned them all at about 200dpi, cleaned up the scans,
cranked up the blackpoint a little to make the text easier to read,
used the level to brighten whites a bit, then created a quark file,
one page for each magazine article page, imported pics, then exported
as pdf. worked great.

In mine it is in the popup menu in the "save" window.
But - true
it would be made one page at a time -
then you would need to assemble with Acrobat anyway.

If you scan in Photoshop at 300ppi
and
"Save As" Photoshop PDF
You will get an acceptable e-mail "thing".
OCR - and "searchable" is a different gme.
